Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Emilee Craig. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Emilee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
In the wedding industry, tradition often shapes expectations—but I believe a wedding should be defined by the couple, not convention. While certain traditions hold sentimental value, the most meaningful celebrations are those that feel deeply personal and true to the people at their center.
As an editorial wedding photographer, my approach is rooted in intention and individuality. I listen closely to my clients, crafting imagery that reflects their story rather than conforming to “how it’s usually done.” Too often, couples are told to follow a script—to do what’s expected. I prefer to give them permission to do the opposite.
Every wedding deserves to feel distinct, because every couple is unique. My work is guided by a documentary perspective—capturing the unscripted moments, refined details, and quiet emotions that define the day. It’s less about perfection and more about authenticity, told through a lens of timeless elegance.

Emilee, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Emilee, the owner and lead photographer of Emilee Craig Wedding Photography, where my focus is on creating imagery that feels both refined and real. My approach blends editorial artistry with a documentary eye—capturing not just how a wedding looks, but how it feels.
I believe every wedding should be a true reflection of the couple at its heart. My work is guided by connection, emotion, and a quiet sense of luxury—honoring each moment with an intentional, timeless touch. Through thoughtful composition and a calm presence, I strive to tell stories that are elegant, honest, and enduring.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an editorial wedding photographer is the ability to preserve emotion in its truest form. There’s something profoundly meaningful about creating imagery that allows a couple to relive the feeling of their wedding day—the laughter, the quiet moments, the beauty in between. Knowing that these photographs will be shared for generations, allowing loved ones to experience the day as if they were there, is an incredible honor.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that my photography needed to fit a certain mold to be successful. When I first entered the wedding industry, I was mentored by another creative who believed strongly in following tradition—replicating what other photographers were doing, even down to their editing style. For a time, I thought that was the only way to build a thriving business.
But as I grew and began connecting with other professionals in the industry, I realized that authenticity—not imitation—is what truly resonates. The moment I gave myself permission to create freely, everything shifted. I rediscovered my passion for storytelling and began capturing weddings in a way that felt true to my vision: editorial, emotive, and timeless. Unlearning that early lesson allowed me not only to grow my business, but to build a body of work that reflects real connection and individuality—something no formula can replicate.
