Alright, Scott thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Acute Mania Live was created during the Covid 19 pandemic in July 2020. As a musician, this was a very tough time since venues and establishments were closed and we had nowhere to perform. Also, I have journalism background and always wanted to interview bands and musicians. I figured, since bands aren’t really doing anything and cannot tour or perform, this would be the best time to reach out for interviews.
As venues started to reopen, I hadn’t planned on continuing the show until viewers started asking me who the next guest was. So I continued and this July, celebrated 5 years!
Scott, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Acute Mania Live mainly features and interviews musicians and bands who may be just getting started in the business and/or seeking global exposure. I think what sets me apart from other podcasts/videocasts is the live aspect, where viewers and fans have the opportunity to chat and ask questions to the guest.
The show was established in July 2020 and became an LLC in May 2024, when I felt the need to separate my personal assets from the business and be fully established.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
A mission idea came about when I interviewed a band from Maine. This mission: feature at least one guest from all 50 of the United States. To date, there are 12 states left: Alaska, Hawaii, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Kansas, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Delaware. And 31 countries around the world have been represented.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
One of the most rewarding aspects of the show is being the first interview or first podcast appearance for a band. In addition, watching an artist or band grow after being on the show. Whether being on Acute Mania Live helped in any way or not, it is always awesome to see them furthering their career.
