We were lucky to catch up with Gregory Ruffin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gregory, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
Real Life Reality was started because of my love for reality tv shows like all the franchises of Real Housewives, Love & Hip Hop, and one of my favorite shows at the time Honey Boo on TLC. In the year 2019, I started watching web series shows on youtube, and the most captivating thing to me was that these were young black queer people creating and producing these shows from start to finish with no major network funding. I then thought to myself I can produce my reality show and with no hesitations, that’s what I did. So in 2020, I begin to cast and film for my first web reality tv show Real Life & Philanthropy, and premiere it on our Youtube Channel: Real Life Reality February 2021. We are now filming our 3rd season. I must say I had so much to learn when it come to producing, production, and perfecting my craft, which I have and I am still learning. Growing up where I grew up you don’t ask permission to be great and create, we were taught you can just do it yourself and learn as you go. I truly believe you won’t learn what to do next without taking the first step even in trial and error. Now I have created my network in 2021 Real Life Reality LLC. where we will create content around Real Life Regular People & Relentless Stories. For the last 6 months, I have taken the time to build a team to help me rebrand and relaunch in late 2022 or early 2023. I am beyond excited to share it with the world soon.
