We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Danny Zertuche a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Danny, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
i leave in Las Cruces NM been living here 60 years, as we were growing up my dad had a construction business, name Jose Zertuches Contracting, he always works hard and was very responsible, we always had what we needed thanks for his hard work. when i turn 10 years old i started working with my dad, as i worked with my dad he showed me all the trades of the Contruction, but not only the trades he also showed me how to be responsible on the trade, how to be reliable and efficiency. to not only do work but to solve the problems in the work area. when i turn 18 i started my own business, and name it Dannys General Contracting, I apply my dad advise in my work and now 40 years in business as Dannys General Contracting and a 5-star contractor. have survive 3 recessions, and 1 pandemic. my customer loved my work and appreciates the type of work i do for them and i thanked my dad and mom for raising me to be a responsible person.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
when i turn 18-year-old i started my business as a contractor Dannys General Contracting. we do remodeling, additions, Porches, demolition, kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, window installation, doors installation, framing, painting, elastomeric roofing coating with membrane, concrete, flooring, build home, work in commercial and residential. they call me DR. Z. cause i solve all the problems my clients have in their home. I find the problem and give them a solution. i do work for customers the other contractors are afraid or don’t want to do, I do it for my clients even problems other contractors can’t solve, i solve it for them. my customers love my work cause i go to do a job for 3 weeks and i end up staying for 6 to 8 months with the same customer because they give me more work and tours the end there looking what else to give me because they don’t want me to leave. the most important thing is when i finish the job my customers are very satisfied. i am a contractor Dannys General Contracting in Las Cruces NM and they call me Dr. Z.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
when i first started in 1985 i was 18 years old and clients saw me young and un experience, but every time i would do a job for a client they were impress of how much i knew and how professional i was. i still have a client Mr. Rice that i met in 1985 my first client, 40 years later he’s still my client. that make me proud of myself knowing that customers appreciate me.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
what has help build my clientele is helping them fix the problems in their home, being reliable and efficiency, giving them what they want in their home and walking thru the process with them. making sure there satisfy. if a client loves your work, then they will call you back, and recommend you to other clients. my dad always said the word of mouth is the best recommendation you only need.
