We recently connected with Courtney Bicanovsky and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Courtney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve ever worked on is building my boudoir photography community. For me, it’s never been about just taking photos—it’s about rewriting the way women see themselves.
When I started photography 12 years ago, I was in my own season of rebuilding. I knew what it felt like to question your worth, to look in the mirror and not recognize yourself. So I poured that energy into creating a space where women could walk in carrying their insecurities—and walk out lighter, freer, and more in love with themselves.
I’ll never forget the first time a client, after seeing her images, burst into tears and whispered, “I can’t believe that’s me.” That moment hit me in my soul. Since then, I’ve watched women who arrived shaking with nerves leave with their heads held high. I’ve seen women healing from toxic relationships reclaim their power. I’ve seen mothers honor their bodies after years of sacrifice. I’ve seen women who’ve spent decades hiding finally step into the light.
This project is meaningful because it’s proof that confidence can be rebuilt, that healing is possible, and that beauty has never been about perfection—it’s about truth. Every session is a reminder: when a woman truly sees her own worth, it changes everything.

Courtney, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been a photographer for 12 years. I started out shooting weddings and dabbling in boudoir, but very quickly realized boudoir was where my heart was. For the last decade, it has been my sole focus—helping women see themselves in a way they never imagined possible. More recently, I’ve started photographing weddings again, and in my personal travels I’ve expanded into commercial work for boutique hotels, Airbnbs, and restaurants. Travel has always been a passion, so it felt natural to begin creating for brands I connected with along the way.
My studio offers luxury boudoir experiences that go far beyond the photoshoot itself. I provide collections that include beautifully crafted albums, wall art, and matted prints—products designed to last a lifetime. In 2026, I’ll be offering retreats for women, creating even more opportunities for self-discovery and empowerment. I’m also preparing to expand my business internationally as I relocate to the UK, bringing this mission to a new community of women.
What sets my work apart is the way I approach boudoir as more than photography. My studio is a safe space where women shed insecurities, confront fears, and leave with a renewed sense of confidence. My mission has always been to help women repair their relationship with themselves—to remind them that they are worthy, powerful, and beautiful exactly as they are.
Over the course of my career, I’ve photographed more than 1,000 women from all walks of life. Each story, each transformation, is what makes this work meaningful to me. I’m proud not only of the impact I’ve had on clients, but also of building a business that supports other women—my marketing team, my makeup artists, and my social media manager—all of whom I’m grateful to uplift in their own careers.
At its core, my brand is about more than images. It’s about empowerment, transformation, and creating experiences that allow women to truly see their worth—and carry that with them long after the photos are taken.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What’s helped me build my reputation most is community. Over the years, I’ve photographed more than a thousand women, and many of them stay connected through my private Facebook group. It’s become a space where past clients and women who are still considering a session come together, share stories, and lift one another up. For many, that community is their first introduction to me—they get to know me in a personal, authentic way and see the transformations other women have experienced. By the time they reach out to book, it’s not just about photos—it’s about trust. That community-first approach has been the foundation of my reputation and one of the reasons women feel safe stepping into this kind of vulnerable, empowering experience.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes—my mission has always been to help women see the beauty and worth they already hold within themselves. So many of us get caught in the routine of being “just” a mom, a wife, or a professional, and forget who we are outside of those roles. Through boudoir, I create a space where women can reconnect with themselves. Every client I’ve worked with has said some version of, “I can’t believe that’s me.” And that’s the magic—it’s not about heavy makeup or becoming someone else. It’s about highlighting who they already are, giving them permission to feel powerful, radiant, and alive again. That mission is what drives me every time I pick up my camera.
