We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Levitin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
When I launched Levitin Collective, it was during maternity leave with my daughter, Daisy. After spending more than 15 years leading PR for brands, startups, and companies of all sizes, becoming a mom shifted my perspective. I suddenly had this clarity: if I was going to spend time away from Daisy, the work had to be deeply meaningful, aligned with my values, and something I could truly call my own.
The idea for Levitin Collective grew out of two things – my love of storytelling and my belief in the power of connection. I’ve always thrived on helping brands articulate not just what they do but why they matter. I saw an opportunity for a boutique firm that could bring hands-on strategy, warmth, and creativity to lifestyle and wellness brands in a way that felt both sophisticated and deeply personal.
Was it a risk? Absolutely. But the logic was clear: brands today want more than just “coverage.” They’re looking for a partner who understands their world, can tap into cultural conversations, and knows how to build community around them. I knew my 15+ years of experience, my network, and my instincts for what resonates would allow me to deliver that. What excited me most was the chance to set my own standard – to only partner with clients and projects that inspire me, and to build a business rooted in purpose, not just momentum.
Launching during maternity leave wasn’t easy, but it was empowering. It reminded me that there’s never a perfect time to take a leap – and that sometimes the most chaotic, emotional, and life-changing chapters are exactly the right ones to start something new. And truthfully, it’s been really fun.

Samantha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Samantha Levitin, Founder and CEO of Levitin Collective – a boutique PR firm specializing in lifestyle, wellness, and consumer brands, based in NYC.
At Levitin Collective, our services span strategic PR, media relations, events, thought leadership, and brand storytelling. But beyond the tactical, what we truly provide is partnership: helping clients translate their vision into narratives that resonate with the right audiences – whether that’s editors, investors, influencers, or consumers.
The problem we solve is twofold. First, we help brands cut through the noise in an oversaturated market, ensuring they’re not only seen but remembered. Second, we deliver the hands-on, senior-level approach that many larger agencies can’t. Clients aren’t lost in layers – they work directly with me and my trusted network of collaborators (my “collective”) who bring creativity, strategy, and execution to every project. That mix of high-touch partnership and results-driven strategy is what sets us apart.
In such a short time, I’m proud to have partnered with incredible clients who truly inspire me – from global fitness franchise Studio Pilates International, to an amazing alcohol-free members club The Maze, to innovative tech platform Winventory, and women-founded event series Little Maestros. Each project reflects the kind of work I want to be doing: elevating meaningful brands, amplifying founder voices, and creating connections that last.
What I want potential clients and collaborators to know is this: Levitin Collective isn’t about chasing every headline or doing PR for PR’s sake. We’re about intentional storytelling, strategic visibility, and building brands that people don’t just notice – they care about. We lead with heart, strategy, and creativity – and when those things come together, the results are powerful!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been referrals and word of mouth. I’m really proud of that because it means the work speaks for itself – and that clients and friends trust me enough to recommend Levitin Collective to others. In an industry built on relationships, those personal introductions and endorsements are far more powerful than any cold outreach could ever be.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I’d say I’m very much still in the process of building my social media presence, and that’s okay – it’s growing every day. Early on, I had the support of the amazing women at Too Kismet, who helped me think about branding and strategy. Now, I also have the help of a fantastic intern who assists with content creation, share clients’ social clippings, trends, and coverage of the events I attend. Having that support has made it easier to stay consistent, which I think is the most important piece of advice for anyone just starting out.
My advice? Don’t wait until everything feels “perfect.” Start posting, experiment, and let your voice evolve. Social media is about connection, not perfection – and the more authentic you are, the more your audience will grow with you.
