We were lucky to catch up with Rika Igarta recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Rika thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s something crazy on unexpected that’s happened to you or your business

There was a time when I had a client who came in for an energy reading regarding the loss of her dog. When she first arrived, she simply asked if I could do a general reading, and I had no idea what I was in for. Suddenly, I felt something biting me and heard a barking noise while I was talking to her. She then began to cry and said, “Oh my gosh, that’s it. I came here because I wanted to know if my dog is okay and at peace.” I was actually surprised, but also not, because I am known to have a mediumship gift that no one was aware of until I started practicing Reiki healing.

A month later, this client decided to have her sister come in for an energy reading. Her sister was not exactly a believer and even told me she was a skeptic. I love skeptics! The reason is that their disbelief often turns into amazement when they see how much I can intuitively sense. During her reading, something felt off and I began to experience shortness of breath and had to go to the bathroom to vomit. It was something I had never experienced before. Then, I heard from spirit that this person had cancer. I didn’t know how to break the news, but I knew I couldn’t lie because I had promised to tell the truth during her reading. So, I told her to check with her physician and that I sensed it was coming from her chest. Was she happy about this? Not at all. She yelled at her sister, called me a scammer, and told me I didn’t know what I was talking about. However, the other client who referred her sister was very grateful, believed in me, and even apologized on her sister’s behalf.

Within a month, this client told a friend that she had her sister go for a physical exam. Lo and behold, the doctor found stage 2 breast cancer. The doctor explained that if she hadn’t gone in when she did, she would already have been in stage 3, as her cancer was aggressive. Would you think she was grateful? Nope. She actually yelled at the doctor. However, the client who received the reading about her dog expressed great appreciation for potentially saving her sister’s life. Even if her sister was upset with the reading, I could tell she was relieved when I saw her eyes her life had been saved by spirit.

Despite everyone’s reactions to my reading, I remain committed to sharing the truth and trusting in the guidance I receive.

Intertwine Healing and Therapy began in 2022, during a confusing spiritual journey I was experiencing. I had discovered that a friendship of 23 years had turned into a whirlwind romance in 2011, and in 2021, I realized he was my twin flame. At the time, I didn’t know what to do because I had previously been married to a soulmate and was caught in a dilemma—having feelings for someone I couldn’t get over or forget. Then I realized he was my twin flame when I started noticing signs from the universe, such as tarot cards, crystals, and Reiki from friends and family. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be practicing any of these spiritual tools.

The turning point for me was when an old friend went through a divorce and met her twin flame. She mentioned the term for the first time, and I had no idea what it was until she described her feelings when her twin flame ghosted her. Shockingly, the same thing happened to me after 23 years of friendship, with a romantic rendezvous that I couldn’t forget, even while married. My friend screamed at me, saying, “You don’t know how it feels until you do!” Driven by pride, I responded, “How much do you want to bet that I do know how it feels and I know exactly who it is?” I decided to purchase a psychic drawing like she did to seek clarity.

I bought a drawing from Etsy, where many psychic artists offer these services. No one knew what I looked like, or about my twin flame. I wasn’t even sure if my feelings were correct. Sure enough, after I received the drawing, I saw that the person depicted was someone I had known for 23 years someone I couldn’t get over and had a hard time shaking free from, even while married. I had no idea what the universe was revealing, but it triggered a spiritual awakening in me.

This journey led me to pursue training as a Reiki practitioner, a spiritual coach, and a shamanic practitioner all within a short period. Everything stemmed from my twin flame experience. That was the beginning of Intertwine Healing & Therapy. Since then, I’ve helped many clients who have gone through similar situations, guiding them to understand their own unique spiritual journeys.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

The way I was able to build my reputation was primarily through word of mouth and the stories people shared about their experiences with others. Many of my clients, with whom I’ve established a strong rapport, have healed well and have been willing to share their testimonies through reviews on my Google Business profile.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

My business almost didn’t happen. There was a time when I doubted my own worth, feeling incapable of the responsibility required to fulfill my purpose of “healing the world” and building a legacy. My confidence wavered further after a difficult split from a business partner who shared a similar mission. Alone and uncertain, I began questioning if everything I had been taught was even true.

However, an overwhelming sense of resilience arose from deep within me. It was a powerful message to continue on my true path: empowering people to embrace their authenticity. My mission is to help others trust their intuition, free from the judgment of others or the confines of someone else’s philosophical teachings. I know this journey well, having once followed another’s path. I came to realize that my true calling was not to replicate but to guide others in loving their authentic selves, in both the light and the dark. This purpose has been the foundation of my successful business for the past three years, and it is what drives my continued mission to build a lasting legacy.
