Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tarishi Gupta. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tarishi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
The idea for Gifty Studio was born out of a moment of creative frustration. At the time, I was working full-time as a photographer, but I found myself burning out. The structure of my job left little room for the kind of creative and editorial projects that originally drew me into this industry, the projects that made me feel alive, challenged, and truly connected to my craft.
On the side, I had already been collaborating with an incredibly talented network of makeup artists, stylists, models, and studio professionals. These were people I trusted, whose work inspired me, and with whom I had built strong creative chemistry. We were producing editorial-style shoots that had a certain magic, projects where the visual storytelling felt intentional, bold, and fresh. It struck me: What if we could offer this level of cohesion and creativity to brands?
That was the seed of Gifty Studio, a full-service photo and video production company that offers end-to-end campaign execution. We handle everything from creative direction and casting to location scouting and post-production. The idea was to become a one-stop shop for brands looking to create elevated, story-driven visuals, especially in the fashion and lifestyle space. A huge part of our mission has also been to diversify the crews working behind the scenes, to spotlight new voices, new perspectives, and create a more inclusive production culture.
What gave me the confidence to pursue this as a business was a combination of instinct and infrastructure. I already had a roster of clients who trusted me for photography, and I had a reliable crew I could vouch for. That foundation meant we could hit the ground running and scale up quickly. But of course, it wasn’t without its challenges.
In the beginning, we faced a lot of trial and error, learning what types of clients were the right fit, refining our workflows, figuring out pricing, building systems. But every mistake gave us clarity and ultimately helped us carve out a niche. We learned how to pair creative storytelling with operational efficiency, which is a sweet spot that not many production teams can balance.
Now, my vision is to expand Gifty Studio into international markets, starting with India, where my own creative journey began. The goal is to take this model and scale it globally, while staying true to the values that started it all: collaboration, authenticity, and bold creative vision.

Tarishi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a photographer, director, and producer, and the founder of Gifty Studio, a creative production company that offers full-service photo and video production for fashion, lifestyle, and editorial brands. My journey into this field has been rooted in visual storytelling from the start. I began my career in photography in India in a small photography class. I was drawn to the ability to create narratives through images, stories that celebrate identity, culture, and creativity and instantly fell in love with fashion photography.
Over the years, I honed my craft through various roles in the commercial and editorial space, working both in-house and independently. But eventually, I realized I wanted more creative freedom, and more space to build the kind of work I truly believed in. Collaborative, intentional, and rooted in strong storytelling. That’s what led me to launch Gifty Studio.
At Gifty, we handle everything that goes into crafting a compelling visual campaign, from creative direction, casting, styling, and location scouting to photography, videography, and post-production. We work with brands to bring their stories to life in a cohesive and strategic way, acting as both the creative partner and the logistical powerhouse. Essentially, we solve the problem of fragmented production by offering a single, trusted team that handles it all, with creative excellence and attention to detail.
One of the things that sets us apart is our commitment to diverse and inclusive storytelling, not just in front of the camera, but behind it. I’ve intentionally built a network of collaborators from underrepresented backgrounds – photographers, stylists, makeup artists, and creatives, because I truly believe the best stories are told when multiple perspectives are at the table.
What I’m most proud of is that we’ve created a space where creative professionals feel seen, respected, and challenged to do their best work. And that, in turn, has helped us deliver campaigns that resonate, whether it’s a bold editorial series or a brand’s seasonal campaign rollout.
For potential clients and collaborators, I want them to know that when you work with me or with Gifty Studio, you’re not just hiring someone to execute a shoot but you’re partnering with a team that genuinely cares about your vision and knows how to bring it to life, from concept to final delivery. We’re collaborative, detail-driven, and we don’t compromise on creativity.
Currently, we’re expanding our work internationally, especially in the US and India, where my creative journey first began. The goal is to build a global studio that bridges cultures and aesthetics, while staying rooted in intentional, human-centered storytelling.
Whether you’re a brand looking to produce a high-impact campaign, or a creative looking for a space to collaborate, our door is always open.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
At the heart of my creative journey is a clear mission: I want to see more women behind the scenes, not just participating, but leading, influencing, and being recognized for their voices and perspectives. The creative industry has long celebrated what happens in front of the camera, but the real magic happens behind it and I believe that space should be more inclusive, more representative, and more collaborative.
I’m deeply driven by the idea of building spaces where creative work is a true team effort. Some of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on were ones where every person on set, from the makeup artist to the assistant producer felt ownership of the final outcome. That kind of collaboration creates work that’s not only beautiful, but also intentional and impactful.
So my mission is twofold: to create opportunities for women and underrepresented creatives to thrive behind the lens, and to foster a culture of collaboration where every voice is valued. To me, that’s the true beauty of this process, it’s not just about the final image, but about how we get there, together.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
One of the most rewarding parts of being an artist is the freedom to manage my own time and creative schedule. That autonomy allows me to stay connected to my craft in a way that feels personal and intentional, rather than rushed or routine. But beyond that, what keeps me inspired is the fact that there’s always more to learn, every project teaches you something new, and the learning truly never ends.
I also feel incredibly lucky to collaborate with other talented artists and creatives. Being on set or in the studio and witnessing how others approach their work, their process, their perspective, their energy is one of the most enriching parts of what I do. It pushes me to grow and reminds me that creativity is a shared space, not a solitary one.
And of course, receiving thoughtful feedback from other creatives, especially from people whose work I respect means a lot. It helps sharpen my vision, but it also creates a sense of community and dialogue that’s so important in this industry. That sense of collaboration, growth, and constant discovery is what makes this path so rewarding.
