We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Amanda Abruzzo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Amanda below.
Amanda, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about how you got your first non-friend, non-family client. Paint the picture for us so we can feel the same excitement you felt on that day.
When I first started hosting community events, I had no idea they would become such a powerful part of my business. I created something I called Wine Wednesdays, a simple gathering at a local park where women could come together after work. The rules were easy: bring a drink of your choice, a snack to share, and a chair or blanket. We’d circle up, introduce ourselves, and then just relax, chatting, laughing, making new friends, and watching the sun dip below the horizon.
What amazed me most was how the group grew organically. Each week, some familiar faces returned, but there were always new women showing up, curious to connect. It felt effortless, and yet it was creating something really special: a space where community and friendship came first.
One evening, after a few of these meetups, I opened Facebook Messenger and found a message from one of the women who had attended. She told me she and her husband were ready to buy a home and they wanted me to be their agent. That was my very first client, and it all began with simply creating a space for people to come together.

Amanda, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I spent over 20 years in the dental field, starting as a dental assistant and eventually becoming a licensed dental hygienist. When an injury made me step away from that career, I leaned into what I’ve always loved most—connecting with people, building trust, and helping others through big life decisions. That’s what led me into real estate, where I now get to combine my passion for service with guiding people through milestones like buying or selling a home.
Around the same time, I started Let’s Go Girls San Diego, a community that’s grown to more than 42,000 women on Facebook and 8,000+ on Instagram. What began as simple park meetups turned into a powerful network of women supporting women—sharing resources, making friends, hosting events, and cheering one another on.
What sets me apart is that I always put connection before business. Whether it’s walking a first-time buyer through the excitement (and nerves!) of purchasing a home, or helping sellers highlight what makes their property special, I focus on people first. My very first client actually came straight from one of my community events, and that experience taught me how meaningful it is to show up authentically.
At the heart of it all, I believe people crave belonging. My work—both in real estate and through Let’s Go Girls—is about creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered. From that foundation, growth, opportunity, and community naturally follow.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I’ve built my reputation by being consistent, approachable, and genuinely invested in the people I serve. In real estate, I make it a priority to listen closely and guide clients with patience and care, whether they’re buying their first home or preparing to sell. At the same time, I’ve created spaces in the community where women can connect, make friends, and support one another, and those authentic relationships have naturally translated into trust in my business. I think people recognize that I’m not just focused on transactions—I’m focused on people and the moments that matter most to them. Word of mouth has been one of my greatest tools for growth, fueled by both my work and my community presence. Over time, that mix of professionalism, heart, and connection has set me apart in my market.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has always been word of mouth and community connections. I’ve built my business by being approachable, consistent, and showing up authentically—whether that’s at community gatherings, social events, or through everyday conversations. People who know me personally or through my network feel comfortable recommending me because they’ve seen firsthand how much I care about relationships, not just transactions. Referrals from past clients, friends, and women I’ve met through community spaces have been the strongest drivers of my growth. For me, the most meaningful part is that clients often come to me already feeling a sense of trust, which makes the entire process smoother and more enjoyable for everyone.
