We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dominique Haughton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dominique below.
Dominique, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Over the course of your career, have you seen or experienced your field completely flip-flop or change course on something?
Over the course of my professional career, I’ve experienced many evolutions, but one of the most defining U-Turns has been the shift in how women, especially powerhouse women are encouraged to show up in the world. For years, the consensus in both corporate and entrepreneurial spaces was that success required women to suppress their softness, mute their natural presence, and adopt a hardened exterior in order to be taken seriously. Best practices often revolved around dressing, speaking, and leading in ways that aligned with traditional masculine ideals of authority.
But there’s been a profound U-Turn. Today, the very traits women were once told to hide such as authenticity, femininity, emotional intelligence, intuition, and presence are now recognized as powerful assets that elevate leadership, business, and influence. What was once seen as “weakness” is now celebrated as the edge that creates iconic, unforgettable leaders.
I’ve witnessed (and lived through) this flip firsthand. As a therapist, coach, and founder, I’ve built my work around helping women reclaim what they were told to bury. This reversal has reshaped the way I serve: no longer teaching women how to survive by blending in, but guiding them to thrive by standing out in their natural essence. It’s been one of the most powerful U-Turns and it has confirmed that true success is not about erasing your presence, but refining and embodying it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Dominique Haughton, founder and CEO of Confidence Academy, a coaching and consulting firm devoted to helping powerhouse women embody an iconic presence…the kind that leaves a trail of influence and impact long after they’ve left the room. My path began as a licensed therapist, where I spent years walking clients through deep emotional healing. Over time I recognized a pattern of brilliant, accomplished women were excelling on paper while quietly suppressing their true essence. Their confidence, femininity, and spiritual grounding were buried beneath survival mode.
That realization sparked my life’s work. I transitioned from traditional therapy into transformational coaching and personal brand refinement, blending biblical wisdom, therapeutic insight, and strategy. Through programs like The Iconic Presence Accelerator 12-Week Group and Presence Beyond Pretty 6-Month 1:1 Programs, I guide high-achieving women through a holistic process of mindset mastery, image elevation, and legacy building so they can lead from authenticity and grace, not exhaustion or performance.
What sets Confidence Academy apart is our integration of faith, psychology, and refinement. We don’t simply “fix” surface problems, we awaken presence. Clients learn to protect their influence, command rooms without losing softness, and create a legacy that outlives their résumé. It’s equal parts inner healing and high strategy.
I’m also the visionary behind The Poise Project, our nonprofit, launching November 2025, that mentors young girls in confidence, character, and personal development, ensuring the next generation inherits the tools to thrive.
My motto, “She who leaves a trail of glitter is never forgotten,” reflects everything I teach: presence is your lasting legacy.
If you remember one thing about me and my work, let it be this: your presence is your power, and refining it is an act of both faith and strategy.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Absolutely! If I could go back, I would choose the same path without hesitation. My career as a licensed therapist was the perfect foundation for everything I do today. The years I spent in the counseling room listening deeply, understanding human behavior, and guiding people through transformation shaped the way I coach and the offerings I’ve created through Confidence Academy.
Therapy taught me to see beyond surface-level success and into the heart of a person’s story. It gave me the discernment, emotional intelligence, and compassion that now allow me to help powerhouse women refine their presence and build legacies with both strategy and soul. Coaching may be my current lane, but it’s the depth of my therapeutic training that makes my work distinct. I wouldn’t be the coach/consultant I am today without first being a therapist.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I first launched, I knew I was building something unique because there wasn’t a blueprint that I could follow. I was building from scratch.
Because it was so new, people didn’t quite know how to engage with it. Many watched quietly from the sidelines, curious but hesitant. The silence could feel loud through those seasons when social media engagement was high but buyers were few and far between.
It required a deep well of confidence to keep going when the numbers didn’t immediately validate the vision. I had to anchor myself in the calling, reminding myself that trailblazers often move through a season of “crickets” before the crowd catches on. Every day I chose dedication over doubt refining my programs, serving the few who said yes with excellence, and believing that the impact would speak for itself in time.
That patience and perseverance are starting to pay off. The very people who once only observed are now asking questions, purchasing ebooks or workbooks if they aren’t ready to commit to 12-Weeks or 6-Months, enrolling, referring others, and sharing how the quiet ache they didn’t have the language for makes them feel seen, supported and heard through my obedience to continue building. That journey taught me that resilience isn’t just pushing through hardship, it’s also holding steady when your dream is still invisible to everyone else.
