We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful John Cameron Lewis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with John Cameron below.
John Cameron, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I was asked to create a pair of angel wings for a fantasy ball hosted by Nephi Garcia, AKA Designer Daddy. I received a call the evening before the event and was informed that my friend of 28 years had passed away. I was able to pour my emotion into the installation and begin the process of grieving.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was trained in floral by an amazing artist and creator John McCormac, producing floral arrangements for high end weddings from designing the table layouts to creating flowing arrangements that direct the eye to focal points in the space. I went on to produce and install my floral designs for Mohegan Sun Casino as well as some weddings. Going forward I am looking to produce floral sculptures for events and fantasy balls creating unique interactive photo opportunities for attendees. I have blended skillsets from framing, welding, sewing and floral design to create structurally sound works that people can interact with.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Go to the Show, interact with artists online, stop buying the bulk prints from Target and pay for the commission or local artists prints, spread the word online when you do, be excited about the art you are engaging with. Support comes in all forms: spreading the word online about a good show, great event, or well-made art can make the difference for artists and event companies.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
First, the people. When people are interacting and taking photos of or with my installations. Knowing I have added a bit of magic and wonder to their experience at the event or ball is rewarding. Second is the final creation and installation, knowing it is exactly how I wanted and seeing it fill the space.
