We were lucky to catch up with Veronica Gomez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Veronica, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
When I look back sometimes I think of the opportunities that I had. I ask myself all the time where would I be now if I didn’t choose the choices I did at the time that I chose them. I have been trying to purse a career in Music for about 11 years, I had opportunities to work with celebrities, ghost write for artist and travel but due to my circumstances I allowed those opportunities to go away. I feel that at that time and place in my life I wasn’t mentally prepared for the extent of it. I didn’t have the right surroundings around me or the right support. In 2018 I decided to take my career in music professionally, seriously and to the next level. I do believe had I taken it seriously prior I would be a lot further than I am now, but I also know God has a plan for us and I believe the wait I endured was for a reason.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For as long as I can remeber I have always dreamt of being a singer. My name is Veronica but if you like positive music you can listen to my music on All streaming digital platforms under my artist name Moyi. Which is a nickname given to me at birth, that I use to honor my mother and my dad.
Music is a huge part of my life. Music allows me to be expressively free. It’s therapeutic for me, it’s a great way to release! My music is not like music that is out today, I truly feel that my music has healing purpose in it, it will have you in self reflection. It will fill you up with inspiration and it will make you believe in yourself again.
Everything I do has purpose. I believe that this world is in need of a positive light, a positive wave and a shift. I truly believe God gifted me with a purpose to redirect our youth.
I am a believer with strong faith, my music, my testimonials and my writings will reflect it. I am a songwriter as well as a mother of two beautiful children Danny Jr and Noelle Marie and I am a freelance photographer as well. To sum it up I am a creator and a visualist.
I believe my ambition and my determination sets me apart, no matter what I endure I keep going without hesitation, doubt or fear and in the mist of my mission I motivate and encourage others to find there inspiration and purpose in life.
I am most proud of my ability to balance ministry work, motherhood and my artistry as an independent artist! It takes alot of strength and courage to push and never give up! If I can do this you can do this!. Never give up on yourself.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the freeness I receive internally from releasing and helping someone else find their purpose through my words.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had this big expectation of starting this career and my friends and my family being right there every step of the way. That expectation caused me to spiral because I felt alone in this push. I thought they would be front and center in all of my achievements. I had to lower my expectation of support and accept that support will come when it comes. Unlearning that not everyone has the same heart and genuinity as you is one of the hardest things to mentally unlearn.
