We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brittany Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brittany below.
Brittany, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
This is a great question because I’m big on not regretting anything in life–everything happens exactly the way it’s supposed to right? But, if I had to choose I think I would’ve started later than sooner. I begin my creative career at 25, and now at 29, I’m a lot wiser and able to mentally handle the beast that is entrepreneurship. It’s certainly not for the weak and requires a great deal of patience and responsibility, two things I lacked at 25. :-)
The downside of starting my career later would’ve been prolonged unhappiness–I was working a 9 to 5 and was very miserable. It wasn’t my calling and led me to abruptly quit to pursue the life I really wanted. Staying longer would have meant I was choosing “the bag” over my peace.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
“I’m an entertainer and business owner,” is the response I give now when people ask me what I do! I don’t like to limit myself, so I aim to nurture every gift God has given me. Dance is my first love! I am a professional dancer, choreographer, instructor and coach. I’m also now tapping into acting, hosting, writing and producing. One of my proudest accomplishments thus far is starting my own company, Hey That’s BJ Entertainment LLC (@heythatsentertainment). My goal is to provide support to and opportunities for other entertainers and creatives to excel in the entertainment industry.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an organic following is definitely challenging! I’m still working on growing my platform, but consistency and authenticity has gotten me to where I am currently. Always make time to engage with your followers! People love relatable content and they appreciate people just being themselves.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
If you have friends who are creatives, be patient with them! Sometimes they won’t be as available, they may need space to get their t’s crossed and their i’s dotted. Show them the same grace you would for anyone else in a different industry. Being a creative is a real job and should be respected too.
