We recently connected with Chidera Ajaegbo and have shared our conversation below.
Chidera, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success, to me, is less about the spotlight and more about structure. I’ve learned that what truly creates success is clarity, consistency, and—crazy enough—systems.
When you have a goal or dream you’re chasing, you need clarity: clarity about who you are, who you serve, and how your work creates value. Without it, you’re just exploring and spinning your wheels. While that might feel exciting in the beginning, over time it becomes draining and costly.
Consistency is what builds trust, both with your audience and with yourself. And trust me, I know how hard it is to stay consistent. You start your “Day 1” journey, building momentum, but by week two, it feels like you’re right back at square one. You’re not alone in that. But you have to push through those Level 1 moments and stay the course. Honor your commitments. Stick to your plan.
Now, the real secret sauce to me? Systems. Not just tech systems—but routines, tools, and workflows that support your growth without burning you out. That’s actually what led me to create Tek Remedy. I saw too many brilliant founders and small teams exhausted from doing everything manually.
So now, through Tek Remedy, I help people build the backends of their business with automation, AI, and structure, so they can finally focus on their vision.
Success isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing the right things, with the right tools & people, at the right time.

Chidera, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a Nigerian living in America and I say it that way intentionally. I came here as a young child, still in elementary school, and like many immigrants, I had to figure a lot out on my own. I’m a first-generation student who earned a bachelor’s in Computer Science (with a minor in Web Design) and a master’s in IT Management. But beyond the degrees, I’ve always been someone who cares deeply about helping others, especially those navigating systems that weren’t built with them in mind.
At one point, I thought I’d go into law and become an attorney. Advocacy is part of who I am. But life led me to technology instead and I discovered that tech, too, could be a powerful tool for empowerment and access.
That journey eventually gave birth to Tek Remedy, my digital systems company based in Prince George’s County, Maryland. We help founders, nonprofits, and public agencies turn their vision into real, working systems—with websites, CRMs, automations, AI admin tools, and everything else behind the scenes that makes a business run better.
What sets us apart is that we don’t just “design websites” or “set up tech.” We build the operational backbone for mission-driven people who want to grow without burning out. I created Tek Remedy because I saw too many brilliant people struggling, not for lack of passion, but for lack of structure, clarity, and support.
Whether it’s helping a local nonprofit launch a grant portal or guiding a coach through their first systemized client journey, I’ve always been most proud of the people I’ve helped feel seen, supported, and equipped. Both inside and outside of Tek Remedy, that’s what fuels me.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn is the idea that I had to do everything on my own in order for it to be done right or for it to “count.”
As an immigrant and a Black woman in tech, I grew up with this quiet pressure to be self-sufficient. I wore independence like a badge of honor, never wanting to burden anyone, never wanting to appear like I didn’t have it all together. I thought that in order to succeed, I had to figure it out alone.
But over time, that mindset nearly broke me. I was exhausted. And I started realizing that success does.nt have to be a solo journey. You need people, you need processes, you need support. You need rest!!!
With that shift, I eventually restructred how I operated. I rebuilt a company rooted in the belief that people should not have to choose between being visionary and being functional. You can have both. You can build something great and still have ease, still have support, still have peace.
Unlearning that hyper-independence has opened more doors for me than I ever could’ve imagined. And now I use my story to help others do the same by giving them the systems, tools, and strategies they need to grow without doing it all alone.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Honestly? Sweat, discipline, and every dollar I earned the hard way. I didn’t come from money, and I didn’t have investors or a big startup grant. I funded Tek Remedy with my own savings and that mindset came from my mother, who is one of the most hardworking and financially wise women I know.
From a young age, I was tought to manage money wisely. I’ve always been intentional with money (for the most part). I’m not a reckless spender, and I believe in stretching what I have. That financial discipline gave me the foundation to build Tek Remedy without debt or outside funding. But as I started my business, I also realized something just as valuable as money: relationships.
A lot of people overlook the fact that your network is also capital. I put a lot of effort into building meaningful relationships and connections that opened doors I didn’t have to pay to walk through. While some people spend thousands for access, I leaned on trust, value, and collaboration. That helped offset many early business costs, and it reminded me that money isn’t the only resource that builds a business, community is too.
Now, I’ve built systems that allow me to reinvest the profits right back into the business, growing steadily and sustainably. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m proud of the fact that every part of this company was built from the ground up, with purpose and patience.
