We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dannie Sinisi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dannie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
A risk I took was rebuilding my life from scratch during one of the most challenging times in our country’s history. In the midst of COVID, I went through a divorce, became homeless with my child, and chose to take the bold step of earning my BA in Film and a Master’s in Art Administration while launching Dannie Boi LLC—a production house creating films, movie posters, America’s Epic Film Festival (Actress Danielle Harper is the Executive Director of the film festival) , and offering DJ and party planning services. I also co-founded the non-profit 3 Chicks Flicks with Actress Geri White and Danielle Harper to help women and kids enter the film industry. I’m able to teach classes under it and help others fulfill their dreams. Both Dannie Boi LLC and 3 Chicks Flicks are steadily growing, winning awards, and laying the foundation for future success. While the journey was daunting and not a path I would recommend to everyone, I’m deeply proud of the resilience, creativity, and determination that have led to a stable home, the beginnings of career I love, and a future filled with promise.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Dannie Boi LLC Productions is my vision of a creative home for independent filmmakers and a platform for bringing my own stories and dreams to life. I love that it spans so many areas of the entertainment industry—offering film production, DJing, party planning, poster design, and scriptwriting—while also connecting with our non-profit, 3 Chicks Flicks, to provide education and opportunities for women and kids in film.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I met the co-founders of 3 Chicks Flicks, Geri White & Danielle Harper, on the set of my student film ‘Hair”. My film “Hair” was quite a large student production bringing people from different states and levels. The experience was amazing and overwhelming but Danielle & Geri were right there by my side with knowledge and advice that kept me going. After filming ended, I kept them close, and when I had the idea to make a non-profit film company, I knew I wanted them with me. They jumped in and now we can help others do what we love.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
In the film industry is not as much marketing as it is networking. So going to film festivals and any opportunity to be on any set is the best way of getting the next job. Although as the owner of the production house, it’s more about getting funding in to get the next project going.
