We recently connected with Braxtyne Seetram and have shared our conversation below.
Braxtyne, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
In 2020, while navigating the demands of college life, Braxtyne Seetram began creating something entirely her own. What started as small, handcrafted batches of lip gloss quickly transformed into B’s Addiction, a beauty brand born from passion, precision, and purpose.
While her classmates were buried in equations and lab reports, Braxtyne spent time doing so along with mixing oils, testing shades, and searching for the perfect formula. She wasn’t just making lip gloss—she was building a vision. Each product was designed to be more than cosmetic: luxurious, hydrating, organic, and always made to celebrate beauty in its most natural form. It started as watching YouTube videos learning how others create their mixes and then she ordered a bunch of supplies using $500 she received from her father to invest in her business. After creating over 15 flavors of lipgloss Braxtyne Sold out completely within the first 2-3 months. She promoted all over campus, social media, and in her home town. The first thing she had to figure out was to come up with a business plan. She asked herself these questions: How much does it cost to make the lipgloss? How much time does it take? What price will be sufficient for profit and time? What scents would her customers like? What colors should she go with? What recipe will she use for each? She then had to order each oil and flavor and other supplies needed to get this business started. She also had to look into creating labels, flyers, and her website. The initial launch she paid a logo designer to create her first logo and flyer. Ever since then she has flourished and learned how to create her own logos and flyers using Canva. She was also working at UPS during her college experience when her business started up. So her days consisted of long hours between class and working on her business. All of her hard work allowed her to create a passion for the lip beauty industry. It all started as an idea and the smile and feedback she receives from each customer remind her of the beauty industry her creation.
After years of hard work, Braxtyne earned her degree in Electrical Engineering—a field that reflects her technical mind and discipline. But even as she stepped into her engineering career, she refused to let go of the entrepreneurial spark that started in college. Instead, she chose to grow both paths: excelling in her professional career while steadily expanding her beauty business. She moved from North Carolina all the way to Arizona where she peruses both her career and entrepreneurship.
Today, Braxtyne balances her weekdays designing circuits and solving complex problems with evenings and weekends spent pouring into her business. She showcases B’s Addiction at vendor events across the week and weekends, sharing her products face-to-face with customers, building community, and steadily carving out her place in the beauty industry.
Her journey is a testament to dual passion—proof that you don’t have to choose between science and creativity, career and entrepreneurship, logic and artistry. With every vendor table she sets up and every gloss she sells, Braxtyne is pursuing her mission: to succeed both career-wise and as a beauty founder, inspiring others to chase their dreams without compromise.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I created the name B’s Addiction by randomly brainstorming a bunch of names and I asked my friends and a few family members which they liked the best. I am from Ahoskie, NC. I grew up in Durham and Raleigh area as well. I went to college in Greensboro NC where I became interested in the lipgloss business that I created. I saw other students starting businesses and I thought I’d like to start something too. I first saw a guy making lipgloss but he only had about 3 colors / flavors to choose and it still felt sticky just like the other store glosses. I wanted to create my own so I started looking it up how to make it. Then I had to battle how can my brand stick out from others? Which led me to the Natural & Organic theme. I also started out with 15 different glosses including the look and flavors. I also created gifts with my lipgloss for special occasions. Business was great and customers love my creation. Ever since the launch my customers have ensured me that they love my product and how soft their lips are after using it. I am content that my products are safe and appealing to my customer. It’s been 5 years and I’m still going strong with no negative feedback thus far. I am most proud of how I developed an idea and succeeded successfully along side doing electrical engineering. Balancing a business with work/school life has been rigorous but I make time for what I love to do and it’s all worth it.

Have you ever had to pivot?
After graduating college I moved to a state on the other side of the US. This cause me to have to leave all of my lipgloss supplies behind because I traveled through plane. I eventually went back to ship everything but at first I wasn’t sure if my business was even worth doing while I’m being an actual adult moving into my career. I went to my now new church and spoke to my pastor. She asked me why did I stop my business? I told her I didn’t think it was meant to be. She said that God gave me the idea for a reason and to start back what he written for me. So with that I shipped my stuff and I ordered all new things that I needed and I looked up vendor events in my city and I recreated my labels and website and I also added more products and so far my customers are loving it. I thought after Covid it was over for B’s Addiction because sells went down but as I’ve been attending vendor events my income can be increased by being consistent with these for sure and getting my brand out there. I made $250 in 3 hours this past weekend. Which is pretty good.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I created flyers and I created my own content. I ask customers to send me pictures and videos of them using my products. I created tik toks. And I also use hash tags.
