We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sarah Lorraine White a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah Lorraine, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
All of my projects and clients are meaningful because no matter what the project may be, I am helping someone reach a goal. Many of my clients come to me about to embark on a new chapter in their lives and are wanting to express this in their style. These are always very special projects for me because I love helping people make their visons and goals come to life.

Sarah Lorraine, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Since I was old enough to slip on my mom’s heels – or my dad’s cowboy boots, I have been drawn to the world of fashion and styling.
As a child, I would beg my sisters and cousins to let me dress them up in my own fashion designs, followed by my own chic photoshoots. I staged some mean fashion shows on the runway of our living room. I directed the occasional commercial, with my characters in my detailed costumes, of course.
I grew up styling for fun for family and friends, even choosing some lucky pets to be my muses.
I discovered fashion magazines as a pre-teen. It felt like fireworks to my brain. My love for fashion exploded. This caused me to embark on a modeling career in high school. I absolutely loved it – because of the amazing clothes I got to wear. Pieces like the ones I thought I could only admire from a magazines distance. I was enthralled in getting to be an actual part of the fashion world.
I decided to study Fashion Merchandising and Business at Texas State University and began my first career in fashion at the David Yurman corporate office in New York City. As glamourous and movie-like as it was, it wasn’t me. I moved back to Texas and worked in an array of other jobs in other fields for years.
Years of feeling completely lost and unhappy in my career is what led me back to what I knew in my heart that I always adored- that I was truly great at. Something that I was always so inspired by, passionate about, energized by and expressed in. Fashion Styling. I began there and started my business. I needed to be a creative.
Today, my favorite thing to do goes back to my roots – managing the creative direction and styling of photoshoots.
I specialize in women and men’s fashion styling, wardrobe consulting, image consulting and creative direction. I consider myself an Image Artist.
I am known for my client color analysis’s where I carefully determine the best colors for them to wear.
I’m also known for creating unique and classic looks that will never go out of style. Including capsule collections that are comprised of a small number of versatile items that you can mix and match to create many different outfit combinations. This way, you don’t need a ton of different pieces. I like to prioritize quality over quantity.
I don’t style based on trends which my clients appreciate. I also put a special focus on vetting good quality, breathable fabrics in the clothing I select. That is so important with our Texas heat and sudden weather changes. I want my clients to feel comfortable while looking great.
I custom tailor my styling sessions to meet each of my very different client’s specific needs. My goal is to make every client feel HAPPY, confident and themselves in what they’re wearing.
I want everyone to be able to afford styling, so I work with my clients to make sure my pricing structure is suitable for them, as well as the price points of my clothing options.
I can do anything and everything a client may need in the styling realm. Some of my client’s favorite services are closet analysis, wardrobe detox, vacation and event styling, vintage styling, online shopping, photoshoots, video shoots and new wardrobe styling sessions.
What I am most proud of is how overjoyed my clients are when we are done. Their reaction and the look on their face when they see themselves in an outfit they feel great in. The inspiring individuals I have had the honor of becoming friends with.
Through personal styling, I am able to help make my clients feel confident and happy and achieve their goals. For me, that is the best feeling and greatest reward! That is what it’s all about.
I feel that all of this sets me apart from others and makes me incredibly proud.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
When I start working with someone, I try to get to the core of who they really are, and style them in what will make them feel happy, confident and themselves in. I don’t just get to know them from the outside, but from the inside. I want my clients to be able to express themselves through their style and to feel wonderful in what they are wearing!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The genuine big smile people get on their faces when they put on something they feel great in!
