As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

You might think this is a useless question to ask a travel agent, but I actually bring people’s vacations home to them.
So my answer to this question is yes and no. Here’s why.

I do take vacations! Most of my vacations are work related, so my vacations are split up into half of it working and half of it relaxing. Taking vacations as a business owner is difficult because it requires you to shut off the “business” side of your brain, most of us can’t do that. I think about my business all the time, no matter what I’m doing, but I do take vacations from time to time. The only way to keep things going is having a good team in place so that the business functions without you. Now does it function 100% the way you would want it? Probably not. But it functions as best as it can with limited interaction from me.
