After three years of building my barber career, I’ve come to realize just how much my health plays a part in my craft. The long hours on my feet and the detailed work require a level of focus and endurance that can’t be taken for granted. By prioritizing my physical and mental well-being- from taking mindful breaks- I’m able to show up for every client with the energy , focus , and creativity they deserve. Taking care of myself has not only improved my quality of life, but it’s also directly translated into the quality of my work behind the chair.
Eli, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Eli Baksh, a barber serving the Duluth, GA area. I first picked up a pair of clippers my senior year of high school. What started as a way to save for college quickly evolved into a passion for the craft. As I honed my skills, I found more than just a job—I found a true passion. The focus and creativity required for each cut captivated me, and I knew this was the path I was meant to be on. Three years later, I’m honored to be doing what I love. I help my clients achieve their ideal looks by first understanding their personal style, then applying my expertise in fades and clean line work to create a haircut that suits them.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My success is built on a simple rule: remember the details. I have a way of tracking client preferences, from their preferred haircut to our last conversation, allowing me to provide a personalized experience. This attention to detail has been a powerful tool for building client loyalty and growing my business organically.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I am grateful that my strongest marketing tool is the quality of my work. Word-of-mouth referrals aremy greatest source of new clients, demonstrating a positive client experience.
