We were lucky to catch up with D Fleysher recently and have shared our conversation below.
D , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I was just a contestant on “King of Drag” the reality competition tv show for drag kings that aired summer 2025. It was a long time coming for drag kings to get the spotlight, and it was an incredible way for me as an artist to get on tv—to show my work on this scale, to be able to show my character and my clowning work and be supported by the show in what I brought.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a character actor, clown king, director, and teacher. I perform ridiculousness and anti-patriarchy comedy that challenges gender norms. I teach performance workshops in authenticity, embodiment and character, and I help artists create their own theater/ comedy shows.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Inspiring others to be bolder, wilder, more authentic in their art or their life!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to facilitate and inspire space-taking for those people who don’t historically take up as much space as they should, on stage and in life.
