We were lucky to catch up with Trevor Lorance recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Trevor thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
When my client first reached out, they were frustrated. Their home had been listed for several months with only one showing. From my perspective, the challenges were clear. The photos didn’t showcase the home’s true potential, there was no real staging strategy, the pricing didn’t align with the market, and there was a lack of online exposure and open house activity.
Once I took over the listing, we completely changed the approach. We staged the home to highlight its best features and open up the spaces, set a strategic and competitive price, and invested in high end photography and video. We built a strong online presence, promoted the property across social media, and hosted an engaging open house.
The results spoke for themselves. We received three offers the very first weekend, all over asking price. Several buyers even mentioned they hadn’t known about the neighborhood until they saw our marketing. My client could not have been more pleased and has since referred me multiple times. This was a perfect reminder that presentation, strategy, and marketing truly make a difference.

My name is Trevor Lorance, and I’m a lifelong Kansas Citian with a passion for helping people make one of the biggest and most meaningful moves of their life — buying or selling a home. I lead the Charboneau Lorance Real Estate Group with Chartwell Realty, a team built on service, education, and results. I’ve been in real estate for over a decade, and I can honestly say I still get excited about every single client we help.
I got into real estate because I’ve always loved both people and problem solving. Growing up, I was the kid who played Monopoly until everyone else quit, because I enjoyed the strategy, the deals, and figuring out how to turn opportunities into wins. That carried over into my career — real estate combines the challenge of negotiating and marketing with the reward of helping people step into the next chapter of their lives.
Our team works with everyone from first-time buyers to seasoned investors, and we pride ourselves on providing more than just a transaction. We handle the entire process from start to finish — strategic pricing, professional staging, high-end photography and video, targeted marketing, and skilled negotiation. What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me, without question, has been referrals. In fact, 92% of my business comes from past clients, friends, family, and people in my network who recommend me because of the experience they had.
That doesn’t happen by accident. Our team is intentional about creating what we call a “raving fan experience” — an experience so good that people can’t help but tell others about it. That starts with truly listening to our clients’ goals and concerns, building a plan around their needs, and guiding them through each step with transparency and care.
For sellers, that might mean staging a home so it shines in photos, crafting a pricing strategy that’s both competitive and realistic, and marketing the property so it’s seen by the right buyers in the right places. For buyers, it might mean uncovering off-market opportunities, connecting them with trusted lenders and contractors, and negotiating fiercely to protect their interests.
But beyond the technical side, it’s the personal touches that matter. Communicating proactively, celebrating milestones along the way, and staying in touch long after closing. We want every client to feel like they have a trusted advisor and friend in their corner, not just an agent handling paperwork.
Over time, those experiences have built a loyal community around our business. When someone has a great experience and knows you genuinely care about their outcome, they’re confident sending the people they care about your way. That’s why referrals aren’t just our biggest source of new clients, they’re also the biggest compliment we can receive.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think the biggest factor in building my reputation has been consistency. Consistently showing up for my clients, delivering on what I say I am going to do, and holding myself to a high standard in every transaction. Over time, that creates trust and trust is everything in real estate.
I am also very intentional about how I market properties and represent my clients. From professional staging and high quality photography to strategic pricing and strong online exposure, I make sure every listing stands out. For buyers, I work just as hard behind the scenes to uncover opportunities, negotiate effectively, and protect their best interests.
Beyond the technical side, what really stands out to people is how personal we make the experience. We do not treat this like a numbers game. We treat it like a relationship business. Every client gets our full attention no matter the price point, and we stay in touch long after the sale. That is why the majority of my business comes from referrals. People know I am going to take care of their friends and family the same way I took care of them.
In short, I built my reputation by putting service first, delivering results, and always doing the right thing for the client even when it is not the easiest or fastest path. That is what keeps people coming back and telling others about us.
