We were lucky to catch up with Kalyn Bonn recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kalyn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I chose “Moving Mountains Together” for my life coaching business because it perfectly captures my philosophy on personal growth.
The Power of “Moving Mountains”
The phrase “moving mountains” is a metaphor for overcoming what seems impossible. It speaks to the biggest, most daunting challenges we face in life—whether it’s a major career change, a deep-seated fear, or a difficult personal transition. I want my clients to know that I believe they have the power to tackle their biggest obstacles and achieve their most ambitious goals.
The Importance of “Together”
This is the most crucial word in the name. It signifies a partnership. As your coach, I’m not here to move the mountain *for* you. I’m here to stand beside you, provide the tools, offer perspective, and give you the unwavering support you need to move it yourself. The journey toward significant change doesn’t have to be a lonely one.
In short, the name is a promise. It’s a commitment to a collaborative, empowering process where we work side by side to turn your biggest challenges into your greatest triumphs.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My story into the world of life coaching isn’t a straight line, but a journey that unfolded over 18 years in the service industry. For the last 8 of those, I was a bartender at a family brewery. It was a great gig, a community filled with familiar faces, and a place where I felt at home. But as my boys got older, I started to feel the pull of family life more acutely. Working nights and weekends meant I was missing the moments that mattered most—the school events, the sports games, the simple, everyday memories. I knew I needed a change.
That’s when I decided to look into life coaching. I initially saw it as a way for my own personal development, a chance to get some clarity for myself. So, I enrolled in a program at the Health Coach Institute. My thinking was, if I could help even one person along the way, that would be an amazing bonus.
But as I moved through the program, a powerful realization hit me: I was already doing this at the brewery. My favorite part of the job wasn’t slinging drinks; it was the conversations I had with people who sat at the bar and opened up about their lives. I was already coaching, listening, and offering perspective—I just needed to change the roof I was serving under.
This wasn’t just a new career—it was a calling. In March of 2024, I formed “Moving Mountains Together,” and in November of that same year, I took a leap of faith to become a full-time life coach. It was a bold move, but it was the right one. Now, I get to help people intentionally navigate their own challenges and create a life they’re excited about. It’s the most fulfilling work I’ve ever done.
I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In November of 2024 I decided to take a leap of faith and leave my bartending job of 8 years. I could have stayed on that path. It was comfortable, familiar, and paid the bills. But I knew in my gut that I couldn’t. The only way I was going to make Moving Mountains Together work was if I got out of my confort zone. It was a scary decision, but it was also the most empowering one. I learned so much about myself and would do it all over again.
Resilience isn’t about being fearless. It’s about knowing when it’s time to let go of what’s comfortable to build the life you’re meant to live. My journey from behind the bar to building my own business is proof that you can choose to write a new story, no matter how many years you’ve spent on the old one.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the most effective way to grow my life coaching business. I’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, and seen all the advice on marketing funnels and client acquisition strategies. But I’ve come to a simple, powerful conclusion: the most effective way for me to grow is by being authentically me.
My journey from being a bartender in the service industry for 18 years to becoming a full-time life coach is built on a foundation of genuine change. I’m not just selling a service; I’m sharing a philosophy that I live every single day. People don’t connect with a brand name; they connect with a real person who understands their struggles and has actively done the work to overcome their own. My story, with all its messiness and triumphs, is the proof of concept.
This is why I’m so committed to pushing my own limits and being transparent about it. Right now, I’m six weeks away from running my very first marathon. This isn’t just a personal goal; it’s a living demonstration of my coaching philosophy. My training requires discipline, resilience, and a commitment to showing up when I don’t feel like it—all the same principles I work on with my clients. It proves that I’m not just talking the talk; I’m walking the walk.
The marathon is my personal “moving mountain.” By sharing this journey, I’m showing that big goals are possible and that the process is worth celebrating. I’m not asking my clients to do anything I’m not willing to do myself. This approach builds trust, proves my methods work, and, most importantly, inspires others to believe they can move their own mountains, too.
I believe this commitment to authenticity is my greatest asset and the only real path to building a lasting, meaningful clientele.
