Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lacie Baum. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lacie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think in order to be successful you need to have drive, you need to work hard, you need to be consistent, you need to put yourself out there, and you need to have passion for what you’re doing. Starting a business is hard, but if you don’t enjoy the journey you’ll lose your spark. There are definitely trials, but just remembering why you started in the first place helps keep your passion alive.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always enjoyed planning and decorating for parties. For years my friends and family have told me I need to turn it into a business. A few years ago I lost my job and decided to throw myself into my business, and Baum Entertainment was officially born. My goal is to create something beautiful and memorable from nothing. I enjoy doing parties with unique themes or putting my own twist on common themes. I have worked with salons, parade coordinators, city officials, corporations, and a lot of family members who just want to create the perfect party for their loved ones. I always love seeing the look on people’s faces when their party is set up and they get to see the magic come to life. I want to create an atmosphere where people can have a beautiful party without the party planning stress. I want people to be able to have great memories of a beautiful and fun party.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being consistent. I always show up on time and am able to create whatever vibe they are going for. I am constantly looking for inspiration and I have always been able to create whatever the person is looking for. I don’t commit to things I know I won’t be able to do and I never bail on a client. Even if they have something come up, I always try to work with them to create their perfect party.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One time I was setting up a party in a park and the winds were 25 mph. It was incredibly difficult to get just my set up and prep area put together, not to mention trying to create a backdrop with balloons in the crazy wind. I was able to pivot and got the idea to put up a canopy with a side wall to help block the wind while I set up. By the time I was done, the wind had stopped so we took the canopy down and had a beautiful backdrop. I was so stressed out in that moment but I was able to come up with a solution and created the vibe I was going for.
