Megan, appreciate you joining us today. Along with taking care of clients, taking care of our team is one of the most important things we can do as leaders. Looking back on your journey, did you have a boss that was really great? Maybe you can tell us about that boss and what made them a wonderful person to work for?

I’ve been fortunate to have several incredible bosses and mentors who have shaped my leadership style. One taught me the art of compartmentalizing networking opportunities at events, helping me be fully present in each interaction while still building lasting connections. Another mentor showed me that outstanding leadership involves encouraging authenticity, granting creative freedom, and avoiding micromanagement. Instead of micromanaging, I learned to be a “microknower” who understands the details without controlling them. This trust empowered me to exceed my goals and even earn news coverage for my work. Additionally, one mentor provided a timeless reminder: don’t take things personally, even if they feel personal. These lessons have profoundly influenced how I lead and support my team.

A few books have significantly changed my perspective on leadership and entrepreneurship. “The Richest Man in Babylon” by George S. Clason offers valuable lessons on managing money wisely and maintaining discipline—principles I apply in my daily life and business. “177 Mental Toughness Secrets of the World Class” by Steve Siebold inspired me to develop a stronger mindset and build resilience, two essential qualities for effective leadership and personal growth in any field. Lastly, “The Seed” by Jon Gordon provides critical lessons about staying positive, being determined, and spreading good energy. These books have truly reshaped my views on life, business, and happiness, empowering me to lead with greater clarity and purpose.
