You know whats funny, this is one of the toughest questions for me to answer. It’s not because I can’t think of one story, rather, so many heartwarming stories come to mind. Since starting my journey in Rheumatology, I often reflect back on all the people I’ve met; the stories they’ve shared with me; and the role I played in their story. Read more>>

Throughout the past couple years, life has changed quite a bit for me. Between the pandemic, moving homes, a couple new jobs and even becoming a yoga instructor, it has been a very interesting ride to say the least. Since August 1999 I, Peggie Sherry, has been hosting events, outings, educational workshops, and medically supervised weekend camps for adults and children with all types of cancers and blood disorders. I get to learn about their strengths, weaknesses, fears and goals, as well as create a safe space to be their authentic selves. One heartwarming story that fills my heart is about a beautiful client who knew she needed to do something different to reach her health and life goals. Like many other women, she struggled with obesity, living a stressful, entrepreneurial lifestyle, convenience eating, balancing work and professional life, and dealing with the frustrations of having PCOS. She ended up delivering her baby at home and everything about that night was beautiful. When I first arrived to her home she was in the earlier stages of labor and had not reached transitioning. The intensity of her contractions picked up some and we went straight into comfort measures to help her through each contraction. We walked around her home, I had her sit on the birth ball, we used the rebozo (a strong fabric cloth like a scarf) and did abdominal lifts and she enjoyed the “shaking the apple tree” method a whole lot during contractions. We even danced a little. Read more>>
