Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann Rigby.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started drawing as a child but became more intense with my drawing when I became very anxious. Since this time, I have always used my drawing as therapy for severe anxiety, autism and adhd.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has never been smooth. Have struggled with general anxiety, agoraphobia, panic attacks, breast cancer and have recently been diagnosed with autism and adhd.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I mainly draw, using pastels, but enjoy using pencils too. I have done many drawings of dolls, but also natural forms, figure work and self portraits. I would say that people may recognize me from my doll drawings. I am proud to say that a piece of my work was accepted this year for an exhibition. My work tends to be quite edgy at times.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was very shy, but as a child, loved to draw but preferred to work or draw on my own.
