Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Angell.
Hi Lisa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
<span style=”font-weight: bold; white-space-collapse: collapse;”>Sure! I got my start in real estate back in 1997 when I was 24 years old. I was living in Las Vegas and got an opportunity to work as a licensed assistant for a luxury agent. I was young, ambitious, and interested in building a business of my own—but like a lot of new agents, I didn’t know where to begin. Becoming her assistant made a lot of sense; I could learn the ropes, see how the business really worked, and earn money at the same time.
I learned a ton during those three years—everything from client care to marketing to managing the day-to-day of a high-volume real estate business. But I also realized that the pace she kept wasn’t quite what I envisioned for myself long-term. I wanted a little more balance and freedom, so I pivoted.
I earned my massage therapy license, worked at 24 Hour Fitness selling gym memberships while training, and eventually moved back to my hometown in Napa Valley. I practiced massage therapy for about a year there. During that time, I kept thinking about real estate—the challenge, the growth, and the potential. I realized that maybe I didn’t have to follow someone else’s model to succeed; I could build a business that aligned with my own strengths and values.
So, I moved to Seattle and jumped back into real estate—this time, fully committed and on my own terms. I’ve been running my own real estate business ever since, and I’ve never looked back.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! One thing I think every business owner learns is that all the hard work you put in during those early years—if you’re doing it right—starts to pay off around years 3 to 5. That’s when you usually begin to see the fruits of your labor with consistent business, referrals, and repeat clients.
Well… my years 3 and 4 were 2008 and 2009. Not exactly ideal timing. The Great Recession hit, and it was rough. There were moments I truly wasn’t sure I’d make it through, but pushing through that time ended up being one of the most valuable things I’ve done. It built resilience, sharpened my skills, and gave me the confidence that I could weather just about anything.
Of course, the last few years haven’t exactly been smooth either—between COVID, rising interest rates, and the industry shakeups like lawsuits and shifting policies. But I’ll take all of that over what we went through in the Great Recession. It’s taught me that adaptability and consistency are everything in this business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lisa Angell Realtor, TV Host of The American Dream?
As a Realtor with over 26 years of experience, you might think I’ve seen it all—but honestly, this past year has been one of the most exciting yet! I know that might sound cliché, but I mean it. The changes in technology and how we do business have completely reinvigorated me. I’m currently working toward becoming AI Certified and diving deep into digital marketing. The tools and partnerships available now are opening up doors like never before, and I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with forward-thinking agents from across the country. Together, we’re creating consumer-centric models that give buyers and sellers more choices, more flexibility, and a smoother experience overall.
Over the years, I’ve also built my own systems and processes to help clients navigate transactions with ease. After doing this for so long, I like to joke that I better have learned a thing or two—but in all seriousness, every deal teaches you something new. That said, I can anticipate a lot of potential roadblocks before they arise, which helps me set clear, realistic expectations and keep things moving forward.
One of the areas I’m especially passionate about is helping people who are buying or selling remotely. I’ve developed some creative (and very practical!) strategies that make the whole process feel easy and connected, no matter where in the world my clients are.
Another huge highlight this year: I was chosen to be a host on The American Dream – Selling the Coachella Valley. It’s an EMMY®-nominated, TELLY® Award-winning lifestyle show that celebrates communities and the people who shape them. More than just a real estate show, it’s a national platform focused on storytelling, philanthropy, and showcasing what makes each community unique. I feel incredibly proud and honored to be part of this elite group of agents from across the country, and I get to collaborate with them weekly—sometimes daily!
This show also gives me a unique platform to highlight not only homes in the Coachella Valley, but also the amazing local businesses and culture that make this area so special. So far this year, I’ve spotlighted PGA West, some incredible local theatre productions directed by award-winning actress Judith Chapman (one of the perks of living here—our plays have Broadway-level talent!), The Magic Cart Ride—a super fun and quirky way to explore Palm Springs like a local—and the Indio International Tamale Festival, where yes, I not only tasted all the tamales I could handle… I even got to ride a camel!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
You can ask my brother (and now my husband)—I might have been a little bossy growing up… but now I like to call it “strong leadership and excellent management skills!”
I grew up in Napa Valley, California, and we moved around quite a bit during my childhood. One of the bigger moves came when I was 14 and we relocated to Washington State. At the time, I wasn’t thrilled—what teenager is excited about moving to a new place? But it turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me. That move introduced me to people who have played some of the most meaningful roles in my life.
Looking back, I’ve always had a natural curiosity and a love for connecting with people. I liked being organized, loved a good project, and was the kind of kid who enjoyed thinking about the big picture. All of that eventually found a home in real estate, where I get to blend strategy, relationships, creativity, and community building every single day.
If you had told my younger self that one day I’d be selling homes in a resort town, riding camels at tamale festivals, and helping clients around the world buy and sell remotely—I probably would’ve said, “Sounds good. When do we start?”
At the end of the day, I believe real estate is about more than just buying or selling a house—it’s about building a life you love, in a place that inspires you. I’m passionate about making that process feel exciting, empowering, and even fun. Whether I’m helping clients find their dream home, mentoring new agents, or highlighting the vibrant lifestyle of the Coachella Valley, my goal is always the same: to serve with heart, hustle, and a little bit of humor.
