We were lucky to catch up with Kathleen Quarterman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kathleen , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
At Quarterman Realty Group, our mission was born from a simple truth: real estate is about people, not just property.
Too often, the process of buying or selling a home feels rushed, impersonal, or overwhelming — especially during life’s major transitions. Whether it’s a growing family, a relocation, a loss, or a fresh start, we believe your journey deserves more than a transaction.
That’s why we’re committed to creating a more meaningful real estate experience — one built on trust, empathy, and deep local expertise. We listen first, communicate clearly, and advocate fiercely. We walk with our clients through every step, handling the details so they can focus on what really matters: their life, their next chapter, their peace of mind.
Because at Quarterman Realty Group, you’re never just a lead on a spreadsheet — you’re the reason we do what we do.

Kathleen , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For readers who may not have met me yet — I’m Kat Quarterman, founder and broker at Quarterman Realty Group, based in South Jersey. I help people navigate one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions of their lives: buying or selling a home. But for me, real estate is about so much more than just property — it’s about people, stories, and transitions.
I got into real estate during a season of my life when I was transitioning myself. I was introducing myself back into the workforce after dedicating some years to raising my little ones. I have a real estate background, having worked as a loan officer and in title, I am deeply drawn to meaningful work — something that allowed me to serve, advocate, and guide others through pivotal moments. I’ve always had a natural ability to connect with people, calm chaos, and find solutions in challenging circumstances — and real estate gave me the perfect platform to bring those skills to life.
What started as a career move turned into a calling.
At Quarterman Realty Group, we specialize in residential real estate services across New Jersey and Pennsylvania (Philadelphia and the outskirts) helping both buyers and sellers move through their next chapter with confidence, clarity, and care. Our services go beyond contracts and closings — we provide strategic pricing, marketing, staging guidance, negotiation expertise, and seamless coordination from listing to keys.
But what truly sets us apart is our client-first, concierge-level approach. We work with first-time buyers, families moving up or downsizing, those going through life transitions like divorce or probate, and even those relocating in or out of the area. We offer customized support based on each client’s unique goals — whether that means managing all the details behind the scenes for a busy seller, helping a family find the right school district, or simply being a steady hand during a stressful time.
The problem we solve? We remove the overwhelm. We simplify the process. We educate and advocate. Most of all, we make sure our clients feel seen, heard, and cared for.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me — especially when they’re going through tough or tender seasons. I’ve helped adult children sell their parents’ homes, supported single moms buying their first house, and guided clients who never thought homeownership was even possible. That kind of impact is why I do what I do.
If you’re considering a move — or even just curious about your options — I want you to know this: You deserve a more meaningful real estate experience. You deserve someone in your corner who sees the full picture — not just the house, but the people inside it.
Quarterman Realty Group is here to offer just that — thoughtful, reliable, real estate expertise rooted in relationships, not just transactions.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy in growing my clientele has been building genuine relationships and delivering a consistently high level of service — before, during, and long after the transaction.
Most of my business comes from referrals and repeat clients, which is a direct result of staying connected and being truly present in people’s lives — not just when they’re ready to buy or sell, but when they need advice, support, or even just a trusted recommendation for a contractor or local business. I make it a priority to educate clients, communicate clearly, and advocate fiercely, so they feel empowered and cared for at every step.
I also lean into community involvement and storytelling. I share real client journeys, local market updates, and behind-the-scenes content on social media in a way that’s relatable and authentic — not just polished marketing. This helps people connect with me as a person, not just a real estate professional.
Lastly, I’ve invested time in creating a solid follow-up system — one that balances automation with personal touch. Whether it’s a handwritten note, a helpful resource, or a quick check-in message months after closing, I believe consistent, thoughtful communication is what turns a client into a lifelong advocate.
Growing a business doesn’t always mean shouting the loudest — sometimes it’s about showing up the most consistently and meaningfully.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One story that truly defines my resilience happened during a season when both my personal and professional worlds were being tested.
I was helping a client sell the home they grew up in — a family estate that needed to be sold quickly to help cover the cost of placing a loved one into assisted living. The home had emotional weight, needed work, and the family lived out of state. They were overwhelmed, grieving, and unsure of where to begin.
At the same time, I was juggling a lot personally — managing my own household and responsibilities as a mom. But I knew that for this client, I needed to show up not just as an agent, but as a steady hand and advocate.
I handled every detail: coordinating repairs, staging, inspections, open houses, paperwork — all while keeping communication consistent and compassionate. I made it my mission to not just sell the house, but to lighten their emotional load. The property sold smoothly, and the family was able to move forward with peace of mind.
That moment reminded me why I built Quarterman Realty Group in the first place. Resilience isn’t just about pushing through — it’s about showing up with purpose, even when it’s hard. It’s about leading with empathy, staying calm in the chaos, and never letting challenges shake your commitment to the people you serve.
I’ve faced many moments like this — difficult negotiations, market shifts, personal setbacks — but each one reinforced that this work is not just about contracts and closings. It’s about helping people through life’s most uncertain transitions with care and clarity.
