We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cory “Sauce” Brown a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cory “Sauce” thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope my legacy, and for what I want everyone to remember me by, is that person who beat all the odds to accomplish their dream! From start to finish, I never wanted to let my dream(s) die, so I did whatever it took to make them become a reality and when people remember Cory “Sauce” Brown, I want them to think and say, “Dang, he was the one that helped me push and stay motivated on my dreams. He was a legend!”

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Cory “Sauce” Brown. I’m an icon in the global basketball community who is now retired from professional basketball, and now focused on creating new noise in acting, youth basketball coaching (I’m the CEO & founder of “Sauce Basketball Academy” in Sydney Australia) , motivational speaking, and community philanthropy. In conjunction, I hold two university degrees in Sports Management & Marketing, and I’ve been able to handle the business and entrepreneurial life as well. How it all started is pretty crazy and definitely unconventional. Started playing basketball at the age of three and loved the game ever since. As I got older, I would always observe the other greats like Kobe Bryant, Denzel Washington, and business moguls to see what they would do , and it led me to see that they were using other crafts that they were good at to bring in more streams of income and awareness to themselves. That’s exactly what I did when I self indulged inside myself and tapped in and said yes I want to get into acting, yes I know I have a great personality and a story which could motivate other’s, yes, I can humbly say I’m a good looking man and get into modelling, yes I’ve studied hard my whole life so I have the intellect to back what I say, YES I CAN DO THIS! With that being stated, I can provide the services of sports, entertainment, and business matters in different spectrums. Some of the biggest things I “fix” in the world is how I can make people of all ages fit and at the same time attach that to life lessons too through my mentorship. What sets me apart is that I bring the “Sauce” and not a lot of people can do that. Most people do it for the money, but I do it for the love of passion’s and everything else will come because you’re authentic to what you’ve been blessed with! The successes I’ve had have helped me to give back to the youth, the homeless, and being a part of great causes and raising awareness like poverty, cancer research, and climate/ world matters too…it warms my heart to help the world for the better.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
When managing a team, it’s not about being a “boss” , it’s about being a “LEADER” !! I have a team around me , and I always want everyone around me to strive to level up in every shape and form. If it’s spitting some knowledge that can help them, leading them to an opportunity, or just making sure they’re happy within the space they’re in, that’s how you manage a team for long term prosperous results.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Undoubtedly, I would say my professionalism, my extreme work ethic, my will to get the job done when I get that opportunity from the other party, my nature to continue to learn my industries, and being a humble and wholesome person overall. With that being said, with some of those traits I mentioned led me to have a well known name and face in the game, but always bettering myself everyday!
