We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kristen Kane a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kristen , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success in business starts with passion and drive. You have to truly love what you’re doing and be willing to put in the time and effort it takes. It requires dedication, adaptability, and the ability to stay calm when things don’t go as planned. Being open to change is essential, especially in a fast-paced industry where no two days are the same. Challenges will always come up, but keeping a positive mindset makes all the difference. More often than not, when something doesn’t work out, it’s because something even better is just around the corner.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Kristen Kane, owner and lead coordinator of Kristen Kane Events. I’ve been working in the event industry for nearly twenty years, and I officially launched my business in 2018. We are a full-service wedding and event planning and coordination company based in Butler County and serving Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. We specialize in weddings, corporate functions, nonprofit fundraisers, and milestone celebrations. Our team is known for a calm approach, attention to detail, and deep respect for our clients’ time, vision, and investment.
At Kristen Kane Events, we take pride in relieving the pressure that often comes with planning events. We manage logistics, timelines, and vendor communication so our clients can focus on being present and enjoying their special occasion. Whether it’s a wedding day, a corporate gala, or a community gathering, our goal is to ensure everything runs smoothly and reflects the people at the heart of the celebration. What sets us apart is not only our experience, but also our ability to be both highly organized and genuinely supportive. What sets us apart is not only our experience, but also our ability to anticipate needs, adapt quickly, and handle each event with professionalism and care.
I’m most proud of the trust our clients place in us and the strong relationships we’ve built with venues and vendors throughout the region. If there’s one thing I want people to know about Kristen Kane Events, it’s that we truly care. Every event is personal. We don’t aim to create what’s trendy. We create thoughtful, seamless experiences that feel true to you.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Most of my new clients come through in-person connections and referrals. Whether it’s a past client, a vendor, or someone I’ve met at an event, those relationships naturally lead to new opportunities. There’s a level of trust that comes from a personal recommendation that you just can’t replicate any other way.

Any advice for managing a team?
I make it a priority to treat my team with respect, trust their abilities, and give them the space to do their jobs without micromanaging. At the same time, I’m always available when they need support. I try to keep things approachable and relaxed, so people feel comfortable asking questions, sharing feedback, and enjoying the work they do. Celebrating wins, both big and small, helps keep people motivated, and encouraging a healthy work-life balance ensures no one feels like they have to choose between doing their job well and taking care of themselves. When your team feels valued and knows their contributions matter, strong morale tends to follow.
