We were lucky to catch up with Isaiah Woo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Isaiah , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’m working on is the one I’m currently working on. I planned, booked, and am managing my first headline Tour. One of my biggest dreams as a musician was to tour, and I took 6 months of planning and strategizing. I put together my fiurst 3-city tour and am currently funding the entire thing as well. One the biggest risks and coolest thinsg i’ve done, this for me is taking that big leap to make music into my career.
Isaiah , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is King Zaae, I’m an R&B artist from Seattle, Washington. I make smooth R&B music that sometimes sounds like the west side and sometimes sounds like you’ve heard on the radio 20 years ago. I want to be a representation of Black music for this generation and the next. I want people to relate feel the vulnerability in my music, hopefully opening doors for people to be more self-aware and honest with themselves and the world, so they take those steps to improve themselves.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think artist creatives have to learn humility. Numbers and notoriety don’t make anyone better. We were all humans. We need each other to survive and thrive in this world. I think community appreciation and gratitude for every working part that makes the bigger, brighter piece shine. I believe we need humility.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part is that it shows when they’re singing their hearts out to the work of art I spent so much time and effort on. It feels nice to feel appreciated and understood. I also feel like I was able to offer the same euphoria I had when I created the piece of art.
