We recently connected with Tommy Tsu and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tommy, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I’m actually self taught . I started out wanting to make music and by needing beats, mixing, promo videos etc. & having very little money I ended up teach myself to just get started. As I continued, all my skills developed to the point where other artists and businesses started to reach out for my services.
It really is all mindset. You have to constantly keep yourself in the right frame to be open to being taught. To collaborating, to fixing your mistakes. To improving on your next proj. You have to want to seek knowledge.
If you look at all as one big experience, the process becomes much more pleasurable.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Art is natural to me. Its something I’ve always done. Music as a career came much later in life. Music as a whole took years of trial and error before I could some what start heading on the right track.
I leverage different disciplines of creation to keep me working and progressing.
I DJ wedding birthdays clubs pvt events etc. & I along with my team, organize Tsunami Pari a reggaeton hiphop experience I do in Hollywood. Along w a litany of other events featuring KROJ 101.5 FM, 818 Pop Up, Blaserk & Friends , Fuegomusic Inc. Lokels etc.
We’ve been apart of Curfew Party, Gasolina Party, LA Moda, LA Santa Tailgates at Sofi Stadium. Plenty of fun activities all over .
I produce direct & edit music video commercials recaps ads etc for other artists and brands. As apart of the times every company needs a content creator. So with that surge plenty if work became available.
I write record produce music & this keeps me running around all over California doing shows . Just to be able to share my voice vision and message is amazing. To perform your songs and have the crowd sing it back is really a wild experience.
My purpose is really to inspire you to believe in yourself. Through persistent action you can achieve anything. Never be the first person to say you can’t & to whome ever does ignore them. Put in the work achieve the results.
Infiltrate the dealers. Find the suppliers.
Really is a blessing to be able to create as a career. Does take patience excellent communication & time management but it is one of the most pleasurable jobs to do.
I’m truly blessed to be able to experience life as I do.
Look up my music & projects all over YouTube Spotify Apple etc
Hopefully something resonates.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Making other people happy. Making people feel something. We all go through dark times and sometimes its nice to be able to relate to someone even if it is via a song. And sometimes people just want to take a mini vacation and forget about their problems. That’s where those club bangers come in and for a few hours everything is cool. People let off some steam and they can go back to dealing with their lives.
Our lives are in constant celebration. We’re always catching people when their celebrating birthdays singles albums tours etc. Its an honor to be included in these core memories for people.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My full story is long but ill keep it short. Imagine getting dumped, fired, attempted stabbing of you twice , fired from your job & you flunk outta school, dui twice. Its easy to quit & wallow in self pity. One day I had had enough. (It was after the 2nd attempted stabbing lmao) I said to myself, I don’t care if they have to drag my body off the stage. I’m not missing a show I’m not letting any thing but me determine my out come . And I NEED TO WIN. And I’m not going to be the reason I fail anymore. No more careless mistakes. No more dodgy situations. I needed to be thorough. I needed undeniable execution.
The lesson being fail forward until you have no other option but to win. Until it literally makes you sick and vomit. Sleepless nights, loss of appetite for the want of success. It may sound extreme, but you only hunt when you’re hungry. You only kill when you’re starving.
Indomitable will
