We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pamela Pedrazzi Reidt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Pamela, thanks for joining us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
After working solely through word of mouth for a while, I decided it was time to invest in a website and start actively promoting my work. Not long after, I got my very first inquiry from someone who found me on Google, and I was so excited! They loved my portfolio and ended up booking one of my top boudoir packages. It was such a rewarding moment and gave me the confidence that I was on the right path.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Photography started as a hobby for me. I used to take family photos for friends just for fun, never imagining it would turn into something bigger. But over time, I realized how much I loved capturing those little in-between moments and the giggles, the connections, the real stuff. Eventually, word spread, and what started as a side hobby quickly grew into something more.
Today, I’m a full-time photographer based in Metro Detroit, specializing in boudoir, family, maternity, branding sessions and more. At the heart of everything I do is the belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, beautiful, and celebrated exactly as they are.
With boudoir especially, I help women reconnect with their confidence and see themselves in a new light. Whether they’re navigating change, celebrating a milestone, or simply doing something bold for themselves, I create a space where they can feel empowered and safe. I also work with clients who have experienced trauma, fertility challenges, and body image struggles because I know firsthand how important it is to be held with compassion and care.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just take pretty pictures. I create experiences. My clients often leave their sessions saying they felt like they reclaimed a piece of themselves. That’s the real magic not just in the photos, but in how you feel when you see yourself through my lens.
I’m most proud of the community I’ve built from women supporting each other in my Real Talk group, to the tears and laughter shared during sessions. This business has become so much more than I ever imagined, and I don’t take a second of it for granted.
If you’re looking for someone who truly cares about your story and will meet you with warmth, encouragement, and a touch of sass, I’m your girl.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what’s helped me build my reputation most is how personal I make the experience. I don’t treat sessions like a transaction. I truly care about the people in front of my lens. I take the time to listen, to understand their stories, and to create a space where they feel comfortable and celebrated. Word of mouth has been huge for me because when people feel seen and cared for, they want to share that. I’m always learning, always improving, and always looking for ways to make the experience even better whether that’s behind the camera, in how I communicate, or how I create a safe, empowering space.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A major pivot came after I experienced a miscarriage. Up until then, my boudoir brand was centered mostly on confidence and feeling sexy. Overnight, I was navigating grief, body changes, and questions about identity, and I knew “business as usual” no longer fit. I realized my work needed to hold both strength and softness. The celebration and the sorrow. The masterpiece and the work in progress.
I paused, reworked my messaging, and rebuilt the experience to be more trauma informed and heart led. I launched my Real Talk blog and private women’s group so clients could be supported beyond the photoshoot. I rewrote my pre session questionnaire to ask about triggers, comfort levels, and boundaries. I added gentler language across my website and emails. I built in payment flexibility and more post session care, because integration matters just as much as the reveal.
On the business side, I also learned to pivot quickly when the market shifts. When longer sessions slowed, I introduced themed mini sessions and clearer, simpler offers. It let new clients step in at a lower commitment, while still getting the full care, styling support, and empowerment focused guidance I am known for.
That season taught me that pivoting is not “starting over,” it is realigning with who you are becoming, and letting your work evolve with you.
