We recently connected with Katie Chapmon and have shared our conversation below.
Katie, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
Becoming a dietitian was a 2nd career for me. I finished graduate school, sat for my board exams and then honestly had no idea what I wanted to do with it. Even throughout all of my internships, it was difficult for me to find my calling. So, my first job was the one that felt the most right at the time. However, it changed my entire life and trajectory. It was more than just a job – it peaked my interest into further study, becoming a subject expert and speaking internationally on the subject. You just never know…

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Katie Chapmon Nutrition is a all-virtual group practice of registered dietitians focusing on gut health and hormonal well-being. We take a whole-body approach to solving and supporting your best quality of life. We not only individualize everything, we focus on the root cause to sustain long-term effects.
What sets us apart is our passion for people, compassion with your stories and our approach which truly takes in the entire picture. We also offering some functional testing for microbiome and hormones that helps us to take a different look to put the pieces together instead of fractioned care. With all of these aspects, we make nutrition approachable, use supportive nutrients to move the needle quicker and look at other areas that may be affecting us more than we think.
So, if someone doesn’t feel well – has bloating, digestive discomfort, hormonal irregularity, transitioning in another hormonal phase (such as perimenopause or menopause) …. or just feels “off”, give us a call.
I’m so thrilled to hear from the people that we’ve helped and supported. Our goal is for people to feel their best.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Humble confidence and an authenticity that can’t be manufactured. People can tell if someone is not authentic – they can hear your passion and knowledge. Ultimately, when someone is seeking personal care, they are not only seeking the skills, but that the connection with their practitioner.
Additionally, you have to have humble confidence that you’ll succeed. Being a business owner is such a mind game. So, you have to know that you can do this and remind yourself all the time

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
I think I would choose the same profession. Nutritional science is unique in that it is ever evolving – I continue to learn and grow in this field as the science advances. It’s a really exciting time where there is more focus on the science of nutrition and I’m glad to be a part of it
