We were lucky to catch up with Nicole Springer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My husband and I started Blush Salon over 10 years ago
And within the last five years, we’ve tried many times to expand and grow.
Only to get set back by his cancer diagnosis.
In 2023 we were introduced to someone in St Joe making big changes.
She had a property she was about to start renovating
My husband and I fell in love with this space and over the next eight months talked about exactly what we would do and how we would reinvent Blush 2.0, in Saint Joseph Minnesota.
In April 20 24, he passed away very quickly and unfortunately.
In September, I signed a lease and started the process of relocating the salon on my own.
Knowing that he was fully supporting me from above.
This has been my personal and professional mission that only to grow and expand our business, but to make him proud.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I fell in love with this industry in high school when I started hair modeling for my stylist.
I saw the artistic and creative side, not just doing hair.
In 2015 my husband, I opened Blush in Waite Park beginner journey of salon ownership.
We learned a lot over the years, but most importantly is about how to treat your people.
In the rebranding and relocating up Blush, we want to create more of a beauty collective or space can be used, not only for hair and those services, but also private suites that allow for services that can create a collective of different experience experiences within the same roof.
Also want to create an educational space for growth and leadership within our group.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Having always had my husband by my side to be not only my partner in life, but my partner in business has been a blessing greater than I ever expected.
Learning to do this business without him and learning to grow and stretching so many ways has been an eye-opening/humbling experience.
I have learned to do things that I never thought I could do, take on the taxes learn how to relocate a business, such as amending LLCs deal dealing with contractors negotiating bids.
None of this was anything that I had ever set out, wanting to do, but have green great muscle and strength from learning that I can do it even through the tears and the fears.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
We use social media as a main form of communication with our clients.
I think hiring someone if that’s not your strong suit is the best business strategy, to help you build that social media page and outreach.
And with that keeping your brand page and stories consistent to what you want people to see feel and think of your brand.
