Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Re’Onna Taylor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Re’Onna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
Honestly, my first real client that wasn’t a friend or family member found me through Instagram—and I’m still surprised she trusted me! 😂 Back then, I was just posting random pictures of my sets, thinking they looked fire… but looking back now, those nails were rough (we’re talking crooked tips and chunky acrylic, lol).
But one day, I posted a set I was actually kind of proud of, and out of nowhere, someone DMed me asking for an appointment. I remember thinking, “Wait… you’re serious? You really wanna book with me?” I was so excited and nervous at the same time.
That first appointment felt like a big moment—this wasn’t someone I knew giving me a pity appointment. It was someone who saw my work and wanted to pay me for it. That first $35 (yes, only $35!) felt like a million bucks. I’ll never forget it.
Funny enough, that client kept coming back and and joked about being one of my “first experiments.” 🫶🏼 I’ve since moved back to California

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My love for doing nails started as just a creative outlet—something that gave me peace and let me express myself in a way that felt fun and meaningful. Over time, it turned into so much more than just a hobby. I realized how much I genuinely loved making women feel pretty and confident, even with something as simple as a fresh set of nails. There’s something special about seeing someone look at their nails and smile, knowing you helped them feel good about themselves.
That passion naturally led me to the idea of creating a one-stop shop for women. I wanted to build a space where women could come not just for nails, but for clothes, accessories, lashes, waxes, facials, hair—anything that makes them feel beautiful and empowered. Offering different beauty services alongside boutique shopping just felt like the perfect fit. My goal was always to create a vibe where women can feel taken care of, pampered, and leave feeling like the best version of themselves. Opening my women’s one-stop shop with my sister wasn’t just a business decision—it was the next step in following my passion for helping women feel good from the inside out.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I chose my sister as my business partner because honestly, it just felt right. She’s always been my biggest supporter—whether it was hyping me up when I first started doing nails or pushing me to believe in myself when I didn’t. She’s always had my back, no questions asked.
From day one, she was the one telling me I could turn my passion into something real, even when I wasn’t sure. So when it came time to actually open the business, there was no doubt in my mind that she was the person I wanted by my side. It wasn’t just about trust—it was about loyalty, love, and knowing she believed in my vision as much as I did. Going into business together wasn’t just a choice; it was something that felt like it was always meant to happen.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Honestly, the best source of new clients has been two things: word of mouth and social media—aka, my personal hype squad and my free marketing team. It’s wild how one cute set of nails can turn into three more clients just because someone’s coworker asked, “Omg, where’d you get your nails done?” And Instagram? Whew… that’s like my online resume and reality show all in one! I’ll post a set thinking it’s mid, and next thing I know someone’s DMing me for an appointment.
Between my clients bragging about me like proud moms and Instagram doing its thing, my salon boutique stays booked… and that’s without paying for ads. Word of mouth and social media? 10/10 – highly recommend.
