We were lucky to catch up with Katie Bragaw recently and have shared our conversation below.
Katie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
The funny thing about starting a podcast is that the barrier to entry is extremely low. Anyone can have a podcast, but should everyone? I always knew I wanted to find a way to be creative about a topic that I was passionate about. I was listening to one of my favorite podcast, Right Answers Mostly, and they were promoting using Spotify to start a podcast, and I thought…it cannot be that simple.
I actually studies radio and tv in college, so the editing process came back to me like I was riding a bike. I downloaded an editing software, got a lineup of about 10 guests, and started putting our episodes. The curveball was when Spotify discontinued their recording software about 4 episodes in, I had to find something, and find it fast. In came Riverside, which actually made my podcast better. A blessing in disguise. I went from basically being on the phone with the Spotify system, to being able to see my guests and have real conversations without talking over each other.
Every time I have had to pivot in my process, my podcast has gotten better. Having a podcast is a process of constantly learning and getting better at my craft, because at the end of the day, all I want is to create the best listening experience for my listeners.

Katie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I actually studied radio and television in college and always thought I would be a news anchor, and after college I worked at a radio station, but ended up taking my career into marketing and social media, but I knew that I wanted to find a place for media in my life. This podcast is the perfect mix of my skills, and me passions. Editing audio was like riding a bike when I put out that first episode!
If you tell teenage Katie that she was not only interested in fitness, but passionate enough about it to create a whole podcast about it, she would laugh you right out of the room. Fitness and wellness have always been a struggle for me. There were always things that made me feel less than when it came to my body and how I existed in the world. Then in 2017 I took my first group fitness class and everything changed. I found a space where I could find community and connection, while also moving my body in a way that did not feel like I was punishing myself.
I get asked all the time how why fitness content? Why a fitness podcast? Well I am a Gemini and I LOVE to talk, so I might as well start recording myself. When I look at the fitness podcasts available, they are all focused on making yourself better, or restricting yourself, and none of them spoke to me. I wanted to create something that felt like your best friend was hyping you up to find joy in movement. So I did! And a year and a half later, here we are putting out weekly episodes with incredible guests!
The podcast has had some incredible people on from barre3’s corporate program director, to Jennifer Aniston’s personal pvolve trainer Dani Coleman, to Club Pilates trainer from their collaboration with Princess Cruises. How cool is it that I get to meet these people and help tell their stories to more people?! Someone recently told me that when their loved ones get tired of hearing about their group fitness talk, they head to my podcast to feel like they are in a community and that just made everything I do worth it.
The greatest thing that someone could get out of my podcast is finding the courage to attend fitness classes, events, or even just go to the gym on their own and feel confident in themselves, no matter their level or ability.
Here is a blurb that I got as a description: Each episode explores fitness and recovery with authentic interviews featuring boutique studio owners, cycling coaches, barre instructors, and movement mavens. Katie champions body‑positive, inclusive wellness—whether experimenting with cold plunges in Indy or chatting live from NYC studios, she radiates encouragement and community. Her content is as much about celebrating everyday achievements (“post‑class brags”) as it is about inspiring listeners—her IG bio (“your hub for all things health & wellness”) is the perfect invite to anyone training their body, mind, or confidence.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Movement is for everybody and every body. Movement is personal. What works for me, might not work for you. There are too many people with opinions getting in the way of someone choosing to move their body the way they want. Group fitness in notorious for making people feel like they don’t fit in. I want to change that. Each episode that I make, every post that I put out on social media, has one goal: to make fitness fun and inclusive.
There are enough things that are serious. The only thing worth being serious in fitness is form so we avoid injuries.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Post Class Brag is my passion project—a health and wellness podcast built on real conversations, community, and the energy you feel after an amazing class. I’ve grown the show by doing what I genuinely love: working out, connecting with people, and being curious. Every time I travel, I make it a point to take a class at a local fitness studio. I introduce myself, chat with the instructors, and often leave with a new guest or listener. I’m not afraid to slide into DMs either—some of the best connections and episodes have come from just putting myself out there. And honestly, the best part is that people who love the podcast really love it—they tell their friends, their instructors, their group chat. That word-of-mouth growth has been everything. I wanted Post Class Brag to feel like the conversations you have after class: sweaty, honest, a little unfiltered, and full of heart. And that’s exactly what it’s become.
