We were lucky to catch up with Tahira Yousuf recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tahira, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When I was deciding on a name, I wanted something that included a common keyword people often search for online. That’s why I chose the word “Eyebrows”—because when someone is looking for services like threading, waxing, lamination, or tinting, they typically type “eyebrows” along with the specific service into a search engine.
At the same time, I didn’t want the name to feel limited to just eyebrow services. I’ve already expanded into other beauty services and plan to grow even more in the future. That’s why I included “& More”—to show that while eyebrows are a core focus, the business offers much more.
I also wanted the name to be unique, memorable, and brandable—something that would stand out and grow with the business. Combining all of these goals, I created a name that is searchable, flexible for future expansion, and strong enough to build into a lasting brand.

Tahira, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My sister used to own a salon in Dubai, and since I was always passionate about the beauty industry, she took the time to teach and train me herself. After completing my BS (Hons) degree in Pakistan, I moved to Dubai and started working in an event management company as a Senior Events Coordinator for the Managing Director.
While working there, I continued my beauty work as a freelancer because I wanted to keep practicing and stay connected to what I love. In 2016, I moved from Dubai to California and decided to start my own salon here.
At first, it was really challenging. I was new in the U.S., no one knew me, and my salon didn’t have any online presence. But as clients slowly started coming in, they appreciated the quality of my work and began sticking with me—and referring their friends and family. I still have many loyal clients who have been coming to me since I started in 2016.
I truly believe that listening to your clients and making them feel valued is essential in any service-based business. Providing high-quality service and maintaining excellent customer care are the keys to building long-term relationships. Clients should always feel that they matter—and that their time and preferences are respected.
Many clients have shared with me that, at other salons, they often felt ignored. People would simply do what they thought was best, without asking or truly listening—especially when it came to brow shaping and makeup looks. That’s why I make it a priority to understand each client’s needs and ensure they feel comfortable, heard, and satisfied with the results.
My clients know they can trust me to listen, respect their preferences, and deliver the look they want. That confidence and mutual trust are what make all the difference.
Currently, I offer a range of services including:
Threading
Henna Tattoo
Henna Tinting
Makeup
Hair Styling

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
You asked me what has been the most effective strategy for growing my clientele—and honestly, it’s simple: consistency in providing high-quality service.
Clients stick with you for two main reasons:
Excellent service, and
Exceptional customer care.
If even one of these is missing, chances are they won’t return. People are not just looking for a good result—they want to feel comfortable, heard, and valued during the process. That’s why I always say: treat your client like they’re your own baby—with care, attention, and respect.
Make them feel like they’re the most important person in the room. They should have full confidence that if they refer their family or friends, those people will receive the same level of care. That kind of trust is priceless, and it’s what keeps clients coming back.
At the end of the day, creating a real connection and bond with your clients is just as important as the service itself.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth, Yelp, and Google have been the most effective sources of new clients for me. Many clients find me through recommendations from friends or family, and positive reviews on Yelp and Google really help build trust before they even walk through the door.
