We were lucky to catch up with Hattie Gilpin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hattie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe it takes consistency and a strong support system to help you along the way.

Hattie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I originally began working for a hospitality startup, but in 2018, I decided to step away and bring one of my life-long passions to fruition and launch Hattie Bank Fine Jewelry. I attended the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in order to learn more about the jewelry industry and receive my Gemologist degree. I also began working with an established designer and mentor (who I am forever grateful for) and operating the e-commerce and marketing for the jewelry brand and stores.
It is an extremely rewarding experience when I am able to bring a client’s vision to life to create family heirlooms for generations to come. The large majority of my clients have become family to me and it is extremely rewarding to see pieces I have created passed down to future generations.
I have always believed jewelry should be worn and adored—not kept in a safe. From jeans to the red carpet, jewelry is a marriage of versatility and wearability, and my creations are meant to be worn as a precious part of my client’s daily wardrobe. I am committed to prioritizing this by creating modern, timeless pieces while using the highest quality materials.
With an entrepreneurial spirit, I recently accepted a position at Wellbel as there director of operations and grow the business along side my mentor, Stacy K.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The majority of my clientele has come from word of mouth. In my mind, the most effective strategy one can have is to offer a unique experience to your clients that also provides value in an authentic way.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Be authentic, listen to your team, and create a collaborative work environment.
