We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tim Dragmen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tim below.
Tim, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you as a business owner?
After college, I worked in the corporate fitness world for a bit, and it opened my eyes real quick. I saw how most of the focus was on making the sale, not actually helping the person once they signed up. That didn’t sit right with me. I knew I wanted to build something different. Somewhere people felt like their time, effort, and money actually mattered. Way too many trainers just show up, go through the motions, and collect a paycheck. I wanted to create a space where people actually feel supported and cared for.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into working out back in high school, mainly for sports and to put on some muscle because, honestly, I was skin and bones. That interest stuck with me, and I ended up studying exercise science at BGSU, where I decided I wanted to become some kind of fitness coach.
After college, I got a taste of the fitness industry from the corporate side, and that experience made it clear what kind of coach and business owner I didn’t want to be. I saw how easy it was for people to become just another number, and I knew I wanted to build something more personal where people feel supported every step of the way, no matter their goals.
Helping people make a real, positive change in their lives is what drives me. No matter what someone’s goal is, I know I can make an impact on their journey. At AIM, we’ve worked with everyone from individuals managing chronic conditions, to people rehabbing injuries, to high-level athletes training for performance. Our team of trainers specializes in just about every aspect of fitness, so we’re able to accommodate a wide variety of needs.
What I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built and the way we show up for our clients. AIM isn’t just about physical training, it’s about helping people feel better, move better, and live better.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what’s helped me build a strong reputation is just being honest and real with people, especially when it comes to the progress they can expect and what it actually takes to change their lifestyle. There’s no magic fix, and I don’t pretend there is. We stay consistent and don’t give up on people. Even when they hit a rough patch, we’re still there, pushing them, motivating them, and helping them keep moving forward in their fitness journey.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Back in high school, I was always one of the smallest, skinniest kids around. I remember eating as much as I could, but no matter what I did, I just couldn’t put on weight. I was 110 pounds my freshman year, and I got tired of people constantly pointing out how small I was. That frustration lit a fire under me. I decided to commit to the gym and start lifting seriously and have stuck with it ever since. That experience taught me a lot about consistency, patience, and showing up even when results don’t come easy.
