We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hasna Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hasna below.
Alright, Hasna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Thank you for the opportunity to share my story and mission. My name is Hasna Jones, and I am the founder and creative force behind Enchanted Hasna Creative Arts in San Luis Obispo County, California. My work is a vibrant fusion of body art, empowerment, and advocacy for neurodivergence through artistic expression.
My mission is deeply personal and powerfully universal: to celebrate the magic of being your full self—neurodivergent, creative, unique, and whole—through the transformative medium of art. I believe that art is not just something we make; it’s how we heal, how we connect, and how we thrive.
As a neurodivergent woman of color, I’ve learned to embrace every part of my experience—sensory sensitivity, deep empathy, hyper-focus, and a soul that processes the world in vivid textures and colors. These traits don’t make me less capable—they make me exactly who I’m meant to be, and they’re at the root of the beauty I bring to others through henna, face painting, body art, and community-centered creative experiences.
Whether I’m painting a child’s face at a farmer’s market, leading a corporate team-building session, or teaching an art class in a therapeutic setting, I bring the message that every mind is beautiful—and every person, from ages 2 to 92, deserves to feel seen, celebrated, and powerful in their own skin.
Art has been a lifeline for me, and now it’s a bridge I offer to others. Especially for those who’ve felt “othered” by neurodivergence, disability, or marginalization, creative expression can be the first place we learn that we are more than enough. My work isn’t just about decoration—it’s about dignity.
This is more than business for me. It’s a movement. It’s how we change the narrative, one design at a time.
Warmly,
Hasna Jones

Hasna , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
How I Got Into My Craft
My journey into this work started with an African art experiment—but in truth, it felt more like a homecoming than a beginning. That experiment helped me realize that henna and body art weren’t just artistic mediums—they were part of the visual language I had been using my entire life. The flow, the symbolism, the ritual—all of it was already living in me through my culture, my creativity, and my way of seeing the world.
Once I discovered henna, I didn’t rush into business. I honored the art. I studied it for three years before I ever told anyone I offered it. I made my own paste, experimented with recipes, practiced intricate designs, and researched the cultural traditions and meanings behind the art. It was a sacred process, one that I took seriously—not just because of the craftsmanship, but because of the responsibility that comes with representing such a meaningful tradition.
When I finally stepped forward and offered henna publicly, I came out running—with confidence, authenticity, and a sense of purpose. And that same energy still guides me today.
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
Artfully Made With Intention and Integrity
Every batch of henna I create is a labor of love—crafted with care, tradition, and deep intention. I don’t believe in shortcuts, chemicals, or mass production. Instead, I treat the process like a sacred ritual—because that’s exactly what it is.
I hand-mix each batch of henna myself using only organic, all-natural ingredients. The process starts with sourcing pure body art–quality henna powder, which I blend with essential oils like lavender or tea tree—not only for their skin-safe properties but for their gentle aromatherapeutic qualities. I don’t add dyes, preservatives, or harmful chemicals—ever. What touches your skin should nourish it, never harm it.
After mixing, I let the paste cure naturally. I test every single batch before it’s ever used on a client. I adjust for temperature, humidity, and consistency—because this isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. It’s alive. It’s art.
Even though I use only natural ingredients, I don’t compromise on quality. My stains are rich, deep, and long-lasting—because I’ve spent years perfecting my recipe and technique. I take tremendous pride in offering a product that is both safe enough for sensitive skin and powerful enough to leave a lasting impression.
When someone sits down with me, they’re not just getting a design—they’re receiving something handcrafted, tested, and infused with soul. That’s the magic of what I do. Every cone is a little bit of legacy.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My journey hasn’t been easy—but it’s been mine. And that’s what makes it powerful.
There was a time not long ago when I lost almost everything in a house fire. My daughter and I were left without a home, and I watched not only our physical space turn to ash—but also years of business materials, art supplies, and personal memories. As a single mother, a Black woman, and a business owner in a community where people like me are rarely centered, it could’ve been the end. But it wasn’t.
I kept showing up.
I still went to markets, painting faces and creating beauty while carrying my grief in the same hands I used to draw joy onto others. I made art while living in transition. I advocated for myself when I was overlooked. I kept mixing my henna, one batch at a time, by hand—organic, pure, intentional. I held onto my standards when cutting corners might’ve made things easier. I rebuilt, quietly but fiercely.
And when people told me to “be realistic” or that I should scale down my vision, I chose to believe in something bigger. I believed in the healing power of art. I believed that even in hardship, creativity could still bloom. And I believed that what I offer—through every design, every cone, every connection—is rooted in something stronger than circumstance.
Resilience isn’t just about surviving—it’s about keeping your heart open in the process. My business isn’t just about henna or art. It’s about honoring who I am, and refusing to let the world make me smaller.
