We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shaunda Pearson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaunda, thanks for joining us today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?

My hero is my mother because she taught me alot about respect, especially as a woman. She taught me how to be independent, to always have my own and never depend on anybody and that’s only piece of how she influenced my journey. She influenced my journey importantly by being very supportive and understanding and that what helps keeps me going on a daily basis. So, growing up I’ve always looked up to my mother and I grew up in a two parent household so i always been a daddy’s girl but my mother, I always watched her stood tall and carried on any battle while still being that loving, caring and supportive mother that she continues to be today. She can be in pain, sad, or frustrated or just not feeling well and she will still get up on her own two feet and go to work just so she can provide for her and her family even while being married to a working husband and when you see her, she will be smiling, and full of love and joy while still being very caring, and you wouldn’t know what burden she has on her shoulders because she is just THAT strong and seeing how strong she is, molded and influenced me to be the strong, independent woman “I” am today.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

One lesson I had to unlearn was that I had to do everything myself to ensure it was done right. When I first launched my business, I wore every hat—marketing, customer service, operations, even bookkeeping. I thought that being hands-on in every area was the only way to maintain quality and control. But as the business grew, that mindset became unsustainable. I was burning out, and ironically, the quality I was trying to protect started slipping. The turning point came when I missed a major opportunity because I was too bogged down in day-to-day tasks. That’s when I realized: trusting others and building systems isn’t a loss of control—it’s a path to growth. I began delegating, investing in training, and empowering my team. Now, I focus on the vision and strategy, and my business is stronger for it. Unlearning the ‘do-it-all’ mentality was hard, but it’s one of the best things I’ve done as a founder.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

When I launched my online business, I was excited—but also wearing every hat: customer support, tech troubleshooting, marketing, and operations. Things were going well until a major platform I relied on for client communication suddenly changed its policies, disrupting my workflow overnight. It felt like the rug had been pulled out from under me. I had two choices: panic or pivot. I chose the latter. I spent late nights researching alternative tools, reworking my systems, and communicating transparently with my clients to keep their experience smooth. It was exhausting—but it also pushed me to build a more flexible, privacy-conscious tech stack that actually served me and my clients better in the long run. That moment reminded me that resilience in the online space isn’t just about bouncing back—it’s about building smarter, staying adaptable, and never losing sight of the people you’re here to serve. It’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about helping others navigate digital tools with confidence and clarity.
