Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexandria Walker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Alexandria thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
As a creative and professional, I hope to leave a legacy of hope and boldness. As an author, it takes a certain kind of boldness to share your thoughts and as a real estate professional, I like to believe I’m leaving families and individuals with hope of breaking generational curses and building generational wealth. Either way, I want my legacy to be one of boldness, fearlessness and hope. I want others to know I was bold in my business and personal ventures, fearless in my pursuit of what brings me joy and serves purpose and hopeful in that they too are capable of all those things as well.
Alexandria, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Alexandria Walker, also known as Xan Tucker. I’m an Arkansas native. Hughes, AR to be exact. I am alumni of THE University of Arkansas – Fayetteville and I am a members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. I am an author and realtor.
As an author (Xan Tucker), I have published nine books. Most recently, I was named Romance Slam Jam (RSJ) author of the year, 2022 and I’ve won four different Emma Awards which inlcude: Best Commercial Romance & Best Book of the Year, 2019 and Best Commercial Romance and Favorite Heroine, 2022. As a real estate professional, I like to focus on first time homebuyers. This very important to me because I’m a strong believer in bridging the wealth gap. Owning real estate is one of the opportunities to closing the wealth gap. I also an advocate for educating individuals on the process. My clients will tell you that I encourage questions and do my best to educate on the entire process of buying and/selling homes. Real estate can be a challenging profession but it’s worth all the highs and lows when a family or individual comes to you with tears in their eyes because you helped them to make their dream of homeownership come true.
I”m most proud of not allowing myself or anyone else to put me in a box. I’m often teased by friends that I have a thousand different jobs. Truth is I just do what feels good to my spirit. I’ve realized my talents are multi-faceted and I won’t hone in on just one of many talents. For my future readers, I would say you won’t find that my writing is just one genre or sub-genre; because, it’ll most likely be romance. I’m a sucker for a good love story. My point is you may find that one book is urban fiction, one is contemporary romance or one may be erotica. For my real estate clients, I’m always learning so I can educate you on the process, programs and other things in the industry that will make your experience amazing. Whether you are reader or real estate client, my goal is to always provide an exceptional experience and be my authentic self.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
As an author and realtor, keeping in touch with readers and clients alike is very important. I try to stay connected to my readers via social media and my newsletter <– I don’t hardly do enough with my newsletter. It has been a challenge to carve out time to do so. I need to be more diligent about this.
I keep in contact with current clients and past clients with mailings and email drip campaigns. I also build a relationship with my clients so it won’t be out of the ordinary for them to get a random text message or video from me just saying hi and checking in.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pivoting has become a key word in many of our vocabularies. Since the start of the pandemic, it has been a word that have used time and time again. I started in real estate at the height of the pandemic. What did that mean for me? It meant no in-person training or meeting clients face to face for a consultation. I wasn’t new to real estate. I had an idea of how things worked. I low-key flipped a couple houses (kind of) before getting my license. I knew in-person interaction was a BIG part of real estate. It became apparent the industry had to pivot. Most consultations were via phone or zoom. Closing were virtual and so on. Once things stabilized, I had to learn the industry as it is right now.
As an author, one of the most challenging parts of being in a pandemic was releasing a book with no book release party. Or at least a virtual one. In both instances, I learned that being flexible in my goals is important.
