We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alberto Perez-Crossland a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Alberto thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
My parents taught me to be the best I can be. They taught me to keep following my dreams no matter what especially when life gets you down. To always stay motivated.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
How I got into the industry is for my love of movies. As a kid ever since I saw “Jurassic Park” I always knew that I wanted to be a filmmaker and actor. Growing up I was always fascinated with how movies were made and the team behind making them. It’s my love for movies that I got to make wonderful friends and connections that I created my own non-profit film production company. I want to tell stories and make content that people can enjoy and connect with. I want to share my work and talents to the world. With the skills I learned not just in college but on my own like video editing, photography, graphic design and etc. the challenges that I have faced were finding clients and people that I can create these stories with. However I did find them and what I’m most proud of is making a movie with wonderful friends and family who support me as well as making me work hard everyday to stay motivated. What I want is to inspire people who are struggling and who have a disability that anything is possible and that you should never give up on your dreams.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Through contacts as well as social media like Facebook and Instagram.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My journey has been through many hardships when making my own films. In college I had to learn everything from writing, directing, producing, budgeting and etc. I made a short that I wasn’t proud of because the audio got messed up and we had to dub it. It came out alright but I wish it could have been better. So I took the lessons when making that film and started a new when doing another short film. Each film I did was difficult but the more I did what I did the more I got better at it. However I’m still working and learning as I go so I wouldn’t say I’m there yet but I’ll keep on doing what I do no matter what.
