We recently connected with Guneet Bhatia and have shared our conversation below.
Guneet, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Over the course of your career, have you seen or experienced your industry completely flip-flop or change course on something?
I have seen technology growing too fast in space of Software development from introduction of .NET framework to current version. From Manual work to find details in thousands of PDFS to usage of large language modals to do search and give us answers in more efficient way.
I would say bringing LLM in workspace for software development is bringing more help and making industry believe using generative AI will increase efficiency and will be less error prone future for building new software’s.
I would say it is positive turn for Enterprise and for software development.

Guneet, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
After completing my bachelor’s in information technology, I Started my journey as software developer.
Software development was like my passion; I learned lot of programming myself by reading books but stepping in Industry was completely different experience from developing small applications to industry standard enterprise application was a big change in journey.
Elsevier was my first big client engagement where I was involved to develop and do Maintenace of application like Hesi (Online Exam proctor application for RN/PN) , Textbook , Evolve ,Reach etc. These application provide wide range of user functionalities and experience for Nurses and students to secure carrier path in field of Nursing.
after spending 4+ years with Elsevier products , I switched job and stared working as contractor ( Sr software developer) for California department of correction and re-habitation .
Here my role was not to develop application which will help Judges to fill the form and details of proceedings.
Coming from corporate to Government Project was a different experience. This project was running in .net stack, but it was very interesting project and had its own complexities not only on business side , but also on technology side.
Next big step in my Journey was switching from .net to Java technology stack , this change came when I joined Shutterfly as Senior Software developer. Though my hiring was for .net application dvelopment . But soon after my joining Shutterfly mangement saw that I am capable of handling multiple project , One of my initial task given was done in 2 hours whereas other developers were struggling to find solution from couple of months .
This was great achievement for me to proof my expertise as sr software developer.
I was soon promoted as Lead for new product which shutterfly was building for printing docuements efficiently , but the twist was that this Project need to be developed in totally different stack in java vs my current tech stack. But withinn 2 weeks of hard work I was working like pro in java technology. I spend around 2 years with shutterflu as contactor and was asked to join full time too.
But destiny needed something else my inclination toward learning new Technolgies including AI , cloud technology and working for more complex problems made me join Siemens ( Siemens energy ) as technical lead where I am still continuing my journey as enterprise architect .
I have been involved in multiple innovations in last 7 years including Spared Advisor , performance Advisor for Gas turbine optimation using AI , Machine learning modals as well as Physics based modals.
But couple of my recent engagements with products like energy management ,Image analytics have more wider impacts
Proud of my work as it helps the society and environment
Energy management – Reduce Co2 Emissions , Save Energy , Save Earth !
Developed a deep learning architecture for real-time energy load forecasting, achieving high accuracy and enabling proactive grid management and reducing emission.
AI-driven optimization of Gas Turbine, Steam turbine ,Wind turbine has directly resulted in a fuel savings of 0.514%( Number looks small , but it has big impact overall) , Cost savings potential of $4 Million annually per customer.
Developed and successfully deployed a scalable AI application on both cloud and on-premise that analyzes disparate data sources (weather forcast, Energy prices,Energy forcast ) to help customers to do real time and intra day energy trading.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Keeping up with new technology and openness to learn new technology is a key to succeed in software world.
Technolgy is changing too fast and as good architect you need to know what is available in market which will help to build product quickly and then go to market on time.
This will help to grow in carrier path.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Being a Enterprise Architect and managing team of 35+ people including Architect , Developers, testers etc what I learned and would suggest everyone to keep morale up of teammates is to spend some time and do open meeting where all people have freedom to share anything professional or personal this opens doors of positive engagement.
Give your teammate time to learn new technologies.
Give them platform to bring their ideas and work on them.
