We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kristen Brown, CSP a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kristen, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission to help people and workplaces embrace energy as a driver of real results is deeply personal and profoundly professional. After losing my husband suddenly when our daughter was just a baby, I had to rebuild everything—my life, my mindset, and my career. What got me through wasn’t just grit and hustle. It was understanding how to manage and channel my energies in ways that moved me forward, even on the hardest days. That personal transformation fueled my professional obsession with the science and strategy of energy. As a former corporate leader and now a Hall of Fame speaker and bestselling author, I’ve seen firsthand how energy—when activated with intention—can unlock performance, connection, and momentum in both people and organizations. My mission is to help teams and leaders turn energy from a fluffy buzzword into a powerful tool for business growth, personal reinvention, and everyday success.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello! I’m Kristen Brown—Hall of Fame speaker, Certified Speaking Professional, author, and the creator of the Powered By Energy™ framework. But more importantly, I’m someone who’s had to rebuild and reinvent, both personally and professionally. After my husband died unexpectedly when our daughter was just 10 months old, I went from corporate leader to widowed mom navigating immense grief, stress, and uncertainty. That journey led me to explore how energy—not just physical, but emotional, mental, and relational—impacts everything we do.
Before launching my speaking and training business, I spent nearly 20 years in corporate leadership, including a long tenure in market research with P&L responsibility, managing global teams, and working with major brands across multiple industries. Now, I use that background to help organizations drive performance, leadership impact, and team momentum through the lens of energy alignment.
My keynotes, workshops, and digital programs are built around the 7 Energies of Results—Vision, Strategy, Communication, Relationships, Confidence, Creativity, and Motivation. These aren’t just feel-good concepts—they’re backed by science and grounded in business application. My clients span industries—from agriculture to healthcare to financial services—and include companies like Microsoft, the Minnesota Vikings, Cargill, and associations like the Community Bankers Association and the National Telecom Association.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend high-energy delivery with practical, actionable tools that leave people saying, “I can use this right now.” I’m proud to be a movement-maker in a space that often overlooks the invisible force of energy as a driver of tangible business results. And I want clients and audiences to know this: when your people feel better, they perform better. If we can activate the right energies in the right ways, that’s when growth, resilience, and reinvention truly take off.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What’s helped build my reputation in the speaking and leadership space is a mix of real-life credibility, results-focused content, and a whole lot of interaction and humor. I’ve lived what I teach—through personal loss, corporate leadership, single motherhood, and reinvention. That makes my content relatable and real—but what makes it memorable is how I deliver it.
I’m known for being highly interactive, funny, and audience-centric. Whether I’m speaking to 50 people or 5,000, I make them the star of the show. I weave in gamification, energy hacks, real-time exercises, and just the right amount of laughter to keep people engaged and taking action. People walk out saying, “That was fun—and I actually learned something I’ll use.”
I’m also really easy to work with, which I know event planners and organizations appreciate. I bring high performance on stage and behind the scenes to make sure the whole experience is smooth, aligned, and impactful. At the end of the day, my goal is to make people feel more energized, more equipped, and more excited to lead themselves and others—and that’s what keeps clients coming back again and again.

Any advice for managing a team?
Managing a team and maintaining high morale isn’t just about pep talks and pizza parties—it’s about energy. Real, strategic energy. That’s why I created the Powered by Energy™ framework, which helps leaders drive results by activating seven specific energy types: Vision, Strategy, Communication, Relationships, Confidence, Creativity, and Motivation.
Here’s how it plays out in real life:
You need Vision Energy to remind your team why their work and personal goals matter—people crave purpose.
You need Strategy Energy to keep goals clear and aligned so no one’s spinning their wheels.
Communication Energy ensures people feel seen, heard, and in the loop—not left guessing.
Relationship Energy builds trust, safety, and those crucial human bonds that keep teams connected.
Confidence Energy empowers individuals to step up and own their brilliance.
Creativity Energy gives your team the freedom to innovate, problem-solve, and have fun with the process.
And Motivation Energy is the deep momentum that keeps the spark alive even when things get hard.
High morale isn’t magic. It’s the result of leaders who intentionally infuse these seven energies into their culture, communication, and daily leadership behaviors. When you lead with energy, your team will follow with enthusiasm, loyalty, and performance.
