We were lucky to catch up with Tabarri Hamilton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tabarri, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I’m building a legacy rooted in God, love, and purpose. Growing up in the foster care system, I didn’t have a stable foundation or consistent guidance—but I made a decision that the pain I experienced wouldn’t go to waste. I want to be remembered as someone who broke the cycle, who used his life to pour into others, especially children and families who feel forgotten or overlooked.
At the center of my legacy are my children. Everything I do—whether it’s in business, ministry, or service—is about creating something meaningful they can be proud of and hopefully continue one day. I want to leave them not just financial stability, but spiritual wisdom, strong values, and a name that opens doors.
When I’m gone, I hope people say I was a man of faith, love, and action. That I gave more than I took. That I used my gifts to uplift others and made people feel seen, heard, and valued. I want my life to reflect the grace God gave me—and to inspire others to believe that no matter where you start, you can leave a legacy worth remembering.

Tabarri, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Tabarri Hamilton, an entrepreneur, creative, and servant at heart. My journey hasn’t been easy. I grew up in the foster care system, faced homelessness as a child and adult, and have had to fight hard for everything I’ve built. But through all of it, God has carried me. My faith, my children, and my desire to leave a legacy of impact are what drive me every single day.
I’m the founder of Hamilton Flooring & Tile, one of the only Black-owned flooring companies in Utah. We provide quality flooring solutions—from carpet and tile to luxury vinyl—for both residential and commercial spaces. Our focus is transformation, not just renovation. We believe your home or business should feel like a place of peace, creativity, and belonging. What sets us apart is the care we bring to each project. We’re not just showing up to do a job—we’re helping you create a space that reflects who you are.
I’m also the founder of Tabarri Hamilton photography., where I use photography and visual storytelling to capture emotion, connection, and purpose. Whether it’s documenting foster kids at camp, shooting family portraits, or telling a brand’s story through visuals, I lead with heart and authenticity.
At the core of everything I do is a desire to serve people—especially those who feel unseen. I’m currently working to launch a nonprofit, Hamilton Family Services, focused on supporting families in crisis, youth in the foster system, and those seeking healing, growth, and community.
I want people to know that I’m not just in business to make a living—I’m here to make a difference. I’m most proud of the fact that I haven’t let my past define me. I’ve turned my pain into purpose, and now I use every platform I have to help others do the same.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the most defining moments of my journey—and a true test of my resilience—was earlier last year when I experienced homelessness. I was a father, an entrepreneur, and a man trying to build something meaningful, but life hit me hard. I had very little stability, and yet I still had people depending on me. I remember parking my car, praying in silence, and asking God to not let this be the end of my story.
Instead of giving up, I leaned deeper into my faith. I kept showing up for my kids, for my businesses, and for the people I serve. I would take client meetings during the day and sleep in my car at night. I kept doing flooring jobs, capturing moments through my photography, and speaking life into others even when I was fighting battles of my own.
Eventually, through God’s grace, the support of good people, and an unshakable determination, I started to rebuild. I got back on my feet, opened my business Hamilton Flooring & Tile, and even got baptized in a lake surrounded by people who loved and believed in me.
That season taught me that resilience isn’t about never falling—it’s about getting back up with more purpose than before. It showed me that my calling is bigger than my circumstances. And now, every time I help someone transform their home, capture a meaningful photo, or feel seen, I’m reminded that the storm didn’t break me—it built me.

Any advice for managing a team?
My biggest advice for managing a team and keeping morale high is to lead with heart, humility, and purpose. People don’t just want a paycheck—they want to feel valued, seen, and part of something meaningful. I’ve learned that when you genuinely care about your team—not just as workers, but as people—they’ll go the extra mile not because they have to, but because they want to.
Clear communication is key, but so is listening. I try to make sure my team knows their voice matters. I celebrate the wins, even the small ones, and when things get tough, I don’t hide from it—I bring everyone together and remind them why we do what we do.
I also believe in leading by example. If I’m willing to get on the floor, lift the heavy stuff, or stay late to make sure the job is done right, it sets the tone. Respect is earned, and morale is built when your team knows you’re in it with them.
Lastly, keep God and gratitude at the center. When you’re grounded in faith and focused on serving others, your leadership will reflect love, strength, and integrity—and that’s what people truly respond to.
