Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cristiane Taylor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cristiane, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
We differ from other companies on a way we prioritize quality over cost. We always manufacture our protein bars with the highest quality ingredients and to have the most delicious natural flavor without affecting the price we charge to our customers.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a mom of 2 girls (Olivia 13 and Alana 9) and married to my high school sweetheart. What I value most is family and to enjoy time with family, go on trips and create memories with them. The beach is my happy place.
I am originally from Brazil, came to the USA as an exchange student in High School and came back to college, where I got a psychology degree and minor in Nutrition. I always had interest in holistic living and nutrition, which made me decide in 2013 to start Healthy Eating on the go Protein bars.
I started my business because I want to have a protein bar made with simple and natural ingredients, which I felt safe giving to my daughter. Protein bar with wholesome ingredients you know and can pronounce and everyone in the family can feel safe eating.
My passion is to help people find ways to have a healthy snack on the go without compromising taste and empower women to go after their dreams.
My team are mostly women and I enjoy being a mentor for them, they are not just employees they are my work family.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
We are about 95% direct to consumer at this time through our website and it’s positive because I can oversee shipping and also see my loyal customers when I am processing orders. I like to be very involved on my business because customer service is very important to me.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I wanted to start my business very small, so I didn’t have to come up with a lot initial capital or get any type of investors. I used personal money to start small and grow slowly and thankful my business has grown steadily that I didn’t have to worry about investor besides my own family(husband).
