We recently connected with Gift Sampson and have shared our conversation below.
Gift, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I have worked on is my social media series, “Follow the Vibes Indy.” It’s a social media series where I tell people about events going on in the city, so we can all be there as a collective, having fun, building communities, and supporting our local businesses and event organizers. This project is meaningful because it is community centered which is one of my core values. As an immigrant far away from home, community is important for me in my quest to establish my home far away from home. By attending these events and sharing them with people through content creation, I can hone my creativity, share my passion, and create a strong community in the process. I am still actively working on this project and I hope that it blossoms into something fruitful for myself and the city.

Gift, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Gift Sampson. I am a Nigerian immigrant who is a multi-media enthusiast who specializes in content creation and photography across multiple social media platforms. As a creative, I love creating content for restaurants and small businesses and photographing events and nightlife. As a content creator for restaurants and local businesses, I can help my clients showcase the unique parts of their businesses which helps build brand awareness, improve brand visibility, attract new customers while retaining old ones, and establish trust with their clients.
With photography, I help my clients capture their special moments and the essence of their big day. With my work, I can provide lasting memories and enhance their overall experience. This helps them be present and focus more on enjoying their event instead of worrying about taking pictures and videos.
I have lived in the United States for almost a decade but I recently just moved to Indy. After my college basketball career, I picked up photography and content creation while working my first job as a club hostess. I deeply enjoy the nightlife scene, capturing the guest experience, and sharing my work on social media became one of my new hobbies. As time went on my passion increased and my work got significantly better. Many of the guests I met at the club started hiring me to create content and photograph their businesses, events, and families. That’s how I began working as a creative.
I also started creating lifestyle content for myself which has helped me build my brand and amassed eighteen thousand followers across Instagram and TikTok.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to have a brand that focuses on creating artistic and valuable content centered on building community and inspiring people.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by creating selfless content that is valuable to my audience. I did this by creating a mini-series called “Follow The Vibes Indy” where I tell people all about events and things happening in the city as someone who has experience working in nightlife and entertainment.
By giving my audience valuable information they were engaging with my content through likes, shares, saves, and reposts. The more I engaged the more my platform grew. More people started to follow me because of the valuable information I was providing. This series helped me grow my TikTok from 5k followers to 12k in two months.
My advice would be to start a mini-series and create selfless content that you enjoy for you and your audience.
