We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Catherine & Cristy Matos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Catherine & Cristy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

Triple Goddess was born during a time when everything felt uncertain. The pandemic had changed our world, and like so many others, we were navigating major life shifts, personal grief, and spiritual questioning. That collective stillness, painful and powerful, forced us to look inward. In the quiet, we began to ask: What are we really here to do?

The answer didn’t come all at once. But in early 2022, we took a trip to Hilo, Hawaii, that shifted everything. It was more than a getaway; it was a spiritual awakening. The land, the energy, the stillness—it cracked us open and reconnected us to our purpose. We came home changed. Clear. Called.

That’s when Triple Goddess was born, not just as an idea but as a heartbeat.

We started where we were, doing live crystal sales from home, popping up at local markets, and showing up with intention and love for those seeking connection. It was humble, raw, and magical. We learned as we went how to source ethically, run a business, and build a community from the ground up. Every step was led by intuition and anchored in service.

But deep down, we always had a dream. There was this one storefront in Hilton Village, a charming little space we had always admired. Every time we passed by, we’d say, “If we ever open a physical shop, that’s the one.” It felt out of reach, like a fantasy… until it wasn’t.

One night, as if by divine timing, we drove by and saw a “For Rent” sign glowing in the window. Our hearts skipped. We pulled over. Stared. We always say it called to us, that we manifested that moment, that space.

Without hesitation, we said yes. We signed the lease and began pouring ourselves into it. Eight weeks of renovation followed with painted walls, scrubbed floors, energy cleared and reset. We wanted it to feel sacred, welcoming, intentional. A true reflection of the vision that had guided us this far.

And then, on August 8, 2023, under the radiant energy of the Lion’s Gate Portal, we opened our doors.

That date wasn’t chosen by chance. The Lion’s Gate represents transformation, alignment, and abundance, all the things Triple Goddess was created to hold space for. It was the perfect beginning.

From the very beginning, we knew this was about more than crystals. We wanted to bring healing to our community in a meaningful way, to make energy work accessible, and to hold space for others to begin or deepen their own healing journeys. Reiki was a huge part of that vision. It had transformed us personally, and we felt deeply called to share it with others. So, we began offering Reiki sessions, workshops, and education to those looking for peace, balance, and empowerment. Healing became the heartbeat of everything we did.

Looking back, the journey from vision to reality wasn’t always easy. It was built from grief and hope, intuition and action. But every step felt guided. Every challenge, every delay, every synchronicity, it all led us here.

Triple Goddess isn’t just a shop. It’s a living, breathing extension of our soul’s calling. A space for healing, for remembering, for becoming. A place where Reiki flows, energy shifts, and people feel seen, supported, and restored.

And it all started with a dream and the courage to follow it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Our names are Cathy & Cristy, and we are the co-founders of Triple Goddess, a Crystal and Metaphysical Healing & Wellness Shop located in the heart of Hilton Village. Our journey into this work has been deeply rooted in personal transformation, ancestral wisdom, and a desire to create a space where others can heal, grow, and connect to their spiritual path.

Triple Goddess first came to life online in 2022 through live sales and participation in local festivals. In 2023, we opened the doors to our brick-and-mortar shop, and it quickly became so much more than a store—it became a sanctuary. We offer high-quality crystals, metaphysical tools, ritual supplies, and wellness products, but beyond that, we provide a safe and welcoming space for spiritual education, personal empowerment, and soul-level healing.

We host a wide variety of classes, workshops, and events focused on energy healing, sound alchemy, Reiki, ancestral practices, Hoodoo, candle magick, tea leaf reading, pelvic floor healing, yoga, and more. All of our classes are led by experienced practitioners from diverse and respected lineages, and our goal is always to offer authentic, ethical, and inclusive teachings that empower people at every stage of their spiritual journey.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

In the early days of Triple Goddess, we spent countless hours connecting with people—whether through live sales online, local festivals, or heart-to-heart conversations in the shop. What helped build our reputation wasn’t just the products on the shelves, but the genuine energy we poured into creating a welcoming, spiritually nourishing space. Word spread because people felt seen and supported, and they knew they could trust us to offer not just crystals or classes, but real guidance rooted in integrity and care. Over time, that consistency—showing up authentically, listening deeply, and staying true to our mission—naturally wove a strong reputation throughout the community.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

The best source of new clients for us has been genuine word-of-mouth. When someone has a meaningful experience at Triple Goddess—whether it’s through a healing session, a class, or simply finding the right tool for their journey—they tend to share it with friends, family, and their wider community. That personal recommendation carries so much more weight than any advertisement ever could. In addition, our presence at local festivals and community events has helped us connect with people face-to-face, allowing them to feel our energy and mission firsthand. Those real, heartfelt connections continue to be the foundation of our growing client base.
